I was simply cleaning my screen today, using Windex (No Ammonia) to clean the front of my TV Screen. After cleaning it I turned on my Tv and noticed what looks like Water stains inside the TV. I think some cleaner must have went down into the cracks and went into the screen area.

I used a blow dryer to try and remove the moisture and it worked for a few seconds but than they reappeared.

I than opened the case and looked inside and it looks like the film covering the screen on the inside is messed up like stained. So I used the blow dryer again on it and it went away but came right back after turning off the dryer!

Im litterly freaking out, and while the machine is under a 5 year warranty I would like to be able to fix this if possible.

DOes anyone know WTF I did? Im starting to think it eat away the film on the inside of the screen and Im SOL and will have to have it repaired!

Is this a CRT RPTV? If so, ask Mr. Bob in the "don't dump your CRT RPTV" thread. If not, you could try asking him anyway, but for all I know non-CRT RPTVs have totally different screens.

Sounds to me like some Windex got between your screen and screen protector or whatever the other layer is.

Pretty common problem. You sprayed windex onto your screen but didn't wipe it up fast enough before it was able to run down underneath the front bezel assembly. Once down there it flowed into the joint between the front and rear screens. Wicking action caused the cleaner to get pulled up between the two screens.

I've rarely had one that was pulled apart, cleaned and gave a good result. You'll have to replace both screens. $300 - 500, possibly more. Sorry.

OK I thought I would tell you all I fixed the screens Ill explain below this might help save you $500-600 in repairs for a simple mistake!

1. I completely removed the screen from the front and took out the inner screen the frosted coated one. Took it into the shower with very hot water wore gloves and yes I was attractive. I cleaned with hot water the front and back completely for 15 minutes.

I than let it air dry some about 15 minutes with a fan on it, than I used a paper towel and a blow dryer to dab up the remaining drops.

I than used Glass plus wipes with NO AMONIA and followed WITH THE GROOVES the spots I could still see rubbed up and down. Than immediately used the Blow dryer on it HOT AIR and it disappeared the smudges.

I placed it back in the tv once dry and while I could still see some smudges (must lighter than before) I put the tv back together and tried it out.

BINGO the entire screen is back to Crystal Clear and I saved some money!

Hope this helps someone else out!

MAKE sure you wear gloves latex or something while handling the screen or you will just put fingerprints all over the screen.
