Let me just start off by saying that i'm F'n furious right now. I was just vacuuming my room, turn the vacuum off, stand it upright and then boom. The thing falls right into my tv which sits low to the ground on a stand.

Heres a picture:

Bottom line, I made this post to get information as to whether there a fix for this. Is it something I can do myself or if i take it to get repaired, how much should I expect to spend?

There is no damage to the exterior screen so I'm assuming theres a screen on the inside that exists which has been damaged. That white crack you see is not present with the tv off.

I'm a student with little money, bought this thing exactly one year ago, took very good care of it, and yet fall victim to this ACCIDENT.

update: what a night, my roommate totalled his car an hour after this.

(Forgive me if this is the wrong section of the forum for this.)

Well all I can say is: They don't make Hoovers like they use too! We have a couple of "high priced" Hoovers and they wont' stand up either!

Back in the day when the motor was in the base, they costs $30, and only the paper bag was in the handle, you could not knock those dawgs over.

yeh $1k for the tv and now i'm being charged ~$100 for an estimate at most places plus them telling me the panel is the most expensive part of the tv.

what a joke, i'm going back to my old CRT til OLEDs are released.

Even on your tube TV the actual picture tube is the most expensive part of the TV and breaking it would render the TV not worth fixing, and the same goes for an LCD TV or a Plasma. And if OLED TVs are ever released, the same will hold true for those as well. Bottom line is that if you break the tube or screen on any TV, you may as well just throw it away. This has always been the case on TVs even before flat panels were ever made.

i feel you man. a similar thing happened to me about two weeks ago. i was messing around in the closet, accidentally bumped into my speaker stand, sent speaker into my 46" samsung 4665 and cracked it. it really blew. i have the tv under my bed now and don't know what to do with it. i heard it costs way to much money to fix. i went out and bought a new 52" set.

yeh i'm gonna try to get some money for this thing thru craigslist.

i wanted 300 bucks and got nothing but scammers. one offer seems legit and the guy is asking 200.

i think i'll sell it at 200 and then just buy one of the new low cost sony sets being released.

All LCD sets have thin glass under the plastic polarizer sheet, regardless of brand. The best suggestion is to wall mount the set to avoid tipover, and to place an equipment cabinet in front and below the set that keeps people, pets, and cleaning equipment away from the screen.
