Hi,
I rarely post here, but I lurk a lot - to research.
I'm finally going to get a Hard drive/ Hi-def camcorder, and I'm trying to decide between these two models.
I've found plenty of reviews on the Canon, and I have 2 Canon digital elph's so I know Canon makes a great product. I really don't like the fact that the Canon uses the AVCHD format. I have a PS3, but I don't want the hassle of converting formats to make DVDs for my relatives.
On the other hand I can't find one review on the JVC (there are a few on the lower end models like the 330 and 335). I am also concerned about JVC's reliability and quality. I had a JVC VCR several years ago that crapped out after very little use.
From the specs, ease of use, and price, I'm leaning toward the JVC - however if the build quality (reliablility) of the JVC is poor, I'll go with the Canon.

Can anyone help?
Has anyone found a review of the JVC?
Does anyone own one?
Can anyone comment on the quality of JVC camcorders? Do they last?

Thanks,

One more question regarding the HG10 (I looked in the other HG10 threads but couldn't find the answer):

When recording in HD format onto a single layer DVD-r, how much (time) can be recorded?

Thanks
