Thanks, my mom should love it then. It says it's karoake disc, what's the deal with that? we're not interested in karaoke, want a full concert disc.

My guess is additional audio tracks with the vocals cut.
Typical for this kind of stuff.

can you talk about the audio quality? I have the previous Andy concert on dvd and the sound for that was awful. It was very sibilant.

sancho89 05-08-08, 12:27 AM holy crap. I cant quite read it, but I like the words from that link
Hdcam, DTSHD-MA. AVC encode. BD50. I like the packaging too.
It seems the reviewer says Tsai Chin concert bluray is reference quality and the andy is not quite comparable, but very good. Reviewer prefers pcm over DTSHD-MA, but I dont see how, the dts should be 96/24 while pcm is 16 bit.
everything else I cant understand and babelfish sucks.
Can someone translate, or tell me if the picture quality is reference quality? Same with the audio.

The package of Andy concert is wrong as it states 6.1 DTS-HD-MA, but it's really 5.1. IF you really like good singer, I have the Eason Chan "Get a Life" concert, I think he has a wider spectrum in his voice and he has better singing technique.
In Andy concert, the visusal effects are awesome with 2 part of musical. I think you won't be diasppointed with it if you really adore him. Where did you see the review, I just didn't hve time to search for the review in avbuzz.com. His review aren't subjective.

this link was finally working for me, and I tried understanding as much as I could.
I used to really lilke Eason, but he got all weird.
I've decided to get both andy's and tsai chins concert.
I read somewhere that Jacky's 2007-2008 concert dvd will be out in june, but dunno about blu ray version

If you like Tsai Chin, she got another blu ray, it's not a concert. But the recording it's done in a concert hall, I think this you may like this disc more. But it only got 11 songs.

Yeah nice to meet you too. I'm chinese born and raised in the Netherlands but I go to HK once in 2 or 3 years. Probably going 2 hk next year again.:D
TuenMuner 05-08-08, 06:41 PM I have ordered the Andy Lau BD as well, still haven't arrived yet but I have heard nothing but great words about the quality of this BD.
hazel_wu 05-09-08, 03:46 AM I ordered the Andy Lau concert from HK and watched it 2 days ago. i really can't find problems with the video quality. There are some noise added for a song which they actually put a note in the box saying that it's an intentional effect.

Nah not much... Maybe you've heard of "Black Book" a.k.a. "zwartboek" from the director Paul Verhoeven (Robocop, Total Recall, Starship Troopers, Basic Instinct). That's the only dutch movie on BD so far. Besides the BDs are quite expensive here so I mostly order them from USA or HK.
Are BD's getting popular in HK? I mean are they available in most DVD stores now or do you have to go stores like HMV?
leilomos 05-09-08, 12:45 PM Anyone know how the PQs for Andy Lau and Eason Chan compared to Sammi Chengs condert? I have the Sammi blu-ray and I can tell you the video is top tier quality reference material. Any reviews for Andy Lau and Eason Blu-rays? Thanks.

Why'd you have to say Sammi's concert video is top tier? Now I have to get that one too.:D
What about the audio quality, also top tier?

thanks for you info, I want to watch Zwartboek, but didn't have a chance. Not sure if I can find it.
BD aren't so popular in HK yet, because not many titles are in the BD format. There are also big chain store like HMV called "Hong Kong Record" and "CD warehouse". They sell cheaper things than HMV.

I can't always get into that site. I think their server is not stable.
avbuzz is one of most well known a/v website off HK, I've been following the site for years. I don't know about HK, but here in Taiwan, BD is getting popluar, I seen alot of shop displaying them, only let down is that not much selection yet. However since I just moved back here from the US. I'm still doing all the searching to find places that I'm able to rent BD, until then I need rebuild my HT system. And it's nice to see some Chinese on the forum.

Hi Roni,
There are less than 20 titles BD for HK films. So, what are some good TW movies or concert on BD? Seeing Chinees on here is great!!!!

I don't think there are any BD by Taiwanese yet, I don't really care much about Taiwanese film, or so far most of movies that I've seen coming out of Taiwan isn't really my cup of tea. As far as music goes, I don't know much of Taiwanese singer, I do hope there will be more like Tsai Chin in near future.

I just bought the DVD mainland version of Tsai Chin, as there are many talking and no special effect whatsoever. As compare to the Andy Lau, he has more things in it and BD will defintely the better choice. TSAI can't optimize the bandwidth of BD, ie the PQ.
