Signal to Noise

Greetings,

I've got a Samsung 46" DLP TV, model HL-S4676S. It's about a year old and has about 4000 hours on the bulb. For the last several months I've noticed some color banding running horizontal across the bottom of the screen. They're located 3" from the bottom screen edge and the bands total about an inch wide. I can see predominantly a green and red stripe with a hint of blue and it can only be seen when the picture is very dark or completely black. I've read about the 'rainbow' effect but am not sure if this is the same thing. Perhaps it's the bulb, color wheel (there's no grinding noise, tho') or cable? I'm using quality component cables from the HD cable box and HDMI from the DVD player. The color bands can be seen from either video source.

I'm going to call the store about this (I have an extra 2 year warranty) but want some opinions before talking to some guy that may try to decieve me into thinking it's nothing or it's normal.

Any ideas or tips on to what to check?

TIA.
