Have a 5.1 system; except for powered subwoofer, all speakers were connect with 18 gauge wire.
Rewired with 12-gauge; added banana plugs.
Switched system on: nothing:eek:
Rewired one speaker [front left because it was easiest to access], removing banana plugs.
Switched system on: all speakers worked:D
Can someone clue me in as to what's going on:confused:

This still occurs a second, third, fourth time and such?

All speakers working fine since removing banana plugs from right front speaker [bananas remain on all other speakers] ...I haven't fooled with connections since...originally I redid that speaker [choosing it as matter of easiest access] in the hopes that it might start working, and thus indicating a problem with my my process of adding the heavier wire and the banana plugs...but when ALL of them began working:confused:
I suspect you had a frayed wire shorting or just a bad plug that was causing the protection circuit to kick in.

Maybe I'll re-wire the speaker as it was originally and see what happens. Hate to fool with though -- every thing's working now...
