Just bought a new PS3 yesterday and also purchased Uncharted and rented Motorstorm. Have only played Motorstorm so far...

Currently, I just have the PS3 hooked up to our old 27 inch CRT. Overall, it looks pretty good....but I also realize I'm only outputting 480i right now on the PS3.

I have a new 50 inch 1080P plasma on order and should have it within the next couple weeks.

Just wondering if I can expect a much different experience once the PS3 starts running on that.

I'm almost tempted to just hang on to Uncharted and not play it until the new TV comes.

Just wanted to get some people's thoughts on how the PS3 looks on old "480" TV's versus the new 1080P HDTV's. Big difference....or not that big?

Huge difference. I remember the first time I plugged in Crackdown and Gears of War after switching from a 24" SDTV to my 40" LCD... unbelievable.

I'm very tempted to hang on to Uncharted until the new TV comes.....but not sure I can wait that long. I suppose by playing it, then I'd really be able to judge for myself the difference between the CRT and the new TV.

I just think that gaming on a 50 inch TV, with a new sound system is going to be pretty darn awesome :)

This coming from somebody that grew up playing Atari 2600 on a 13 inch black and white TV :)

You know the whole "high definition" craze that's going on right now? Well all of that is there for a reason. It's beyond night and day to compare 480i and 1080p. Even 720p is another world. Wait for the new TV.

Just want to go on record.....I'm not by any means trying to "bash" the PS3. I think it's pretty awesome with my "crappy" TV.

Just trying to give myself even more to look forward to. And trying to decide if I should break out Uncharted and start playing it on the "crappy" tv....or just rent a couple games to play for now and hold back Uncharted until it can be displayed "properly" on the big screen.

New TV is on order and should arrive in a week or two.

Don't worry, there's unlockables, and then the crushing difficulty. Try again on that setting in HD once you get the TV.

Let's just say you'll be dyeing a lot because you’re looking at the scenery and not playing the game. It's amazing all the little things you'll discover. One cut scene from Uncharted is the flashlight scene in the temple. Magnificent in HD!
