View Full Version : Question on Devil may cry 4
98cobra 05-05-08, 12:18 PM Just got this game last week and the one thing I hate about this game is no matter where you save the game you always end up restarting the mission and loose all your progress in that mission. Am I saving it wrong or missing something? I bought this as a used game with no manual so I do not have anything to refer to. Is there any way to start back where you left off instead of back at the begining of the mission?

I'm having the same issue on the 360 version...... no matter what you do, you always seem to restart one level further back then when you made your save.
It's strange, and I hope you get an answer for both of our sakes.
corymat 05-05-08, 01:06 PM When you load the mission, yes, for some reason it defaults to the last mission completed (instead of the one you are currently on) but if you highlight the mission and press right, it will bring up the mission you are currently in. This thew me for a loop when I first loaded a saved game as well.
This applies to the PS3 version, I'm sure if the 360 has the same screen, should though.

98cobra 05-05-08, 02:22 PM Thanks a ton for the info, I am on mission 6 right now and I hate reduing that mission all the time. the game is very fun though I really enjoy it very much.
98cobra 05-06-08, 01:45 PM well that did not work, all it did was put it on automatic and when I save it, it still starts at the begining of the missions, this is just not right.
Ramsrule 05-06-08, 01:52 PM well it worked for me on the 360..... I went into the load screen, selected my last save, then when it loaded that into the start screen I hit right on the D-pad and it took me to the ending summary/score screen of the last level I had completed.
If you're looking to store saves of progress while in the middle of a level, I dont think that's possible.
Thanks for the tip Cory!
98cobra 05-06-08, 02:26 PM yea I am right at the last part of mission 6 where you go back to the town and try to save it there and it always starts me right at the begining of mission 6 again. For some reason when I go back to the town on mission 6 there are bars over the door i am supposed to go through and I am stuck right there.

Sounds like me and you are at the same part of the game. I just beat level 6 and am moving on to the forrest.
It was unclear for me as to how to finish the level, so I had to look up how to do it (it was a matter of finding what you had unlocked earlier).
Rather than post the spoilers here and ruin it for others, I'll post a link to the walkthrough that I used - scroll to the bottom for the steps on how to finish the level-

You're not alone. There's lots of places in this game where I got completely frustrated by not knowing where to go - you have to backtrack and go somewhere but there's no real clear direction to where you go.
I also pull this out when I get into a "secret mission" that tells me I need to do some special move but refers to it only by name, with no explanation of how to pull it off.
Overall a fun game so far though.
98cobra 05-06-08, 04:21 PM Yes it is a fun game, I am just sick of doing mission 6 over and over and over when I think I got everything but I must have missed something, there is not to much to mission 6 fall down the shaft, take on 4 mobs that go under the floor, go around the U to the next part with the dice, roll the dice beat that, go the the main mob, destroy the glass, get the new sword, then I think go back and bounce all the way back up and through all the other missions back to the town, i might be missing a few things but I am not at home right now.
corymat 05-06-08, 05:49 PM That confused me too, that he says he needs to go back, because you don't (spoiler for those not this far - highlight to read) You exit out through the painting of the guy and take the door on your right to go out to the waterfall. I did the same thing you did originally, I tried to go back to the town and left the castle, but the bridge fell and you get stuck and I ended up running around the castle for half an hour before I jumped back up next to the painting and found the waterfall.
Hope that helps.
