I just purchased a Samsung HL61A750 DLP TV and have a problem with HDMI playback from my Yamaha DV-S5950 upconvert DVD player (which I'd been using for over a year without any problems with an older Hitachi TV, via HDMI-to-DVI). I connected the Yamaha to my new Samsung TV via HDMI-to-HDMI cable. All connections were correct, but the playback image displayed on the TV has a very strong magenta hue overall (the picture images are sharp and in focus, only the colors are distorted). In addition, we get no audio either. What am I doing wrong?

Please help.

I have a Philips DVD player connected via component cable to a Yamaha HTR-6180 and am using the Yamaha to upconvert the signal to HDMI to the HL61A750. I had the same problem with a strong magenta color.

I went into the settings on the DVD player and changed the display from S-Video (the default) to YPrPb, and set it to progressive mode, and it resolved the color issue.

I'm not using the TV for sound (it would be nice to use as a center channel like my old Toshiba), so I don't know why you are not getting sound. Is the Yamaha passing the audio through the HDMI?
