I tried reading several of the PS3 threads, but was still left uncertain on this. I believe my DVD Upscaler setting is set to Full Screen...does this have any impact on BluRay discs? I noticed that every BluRay movie I have watched has taken up the entire screen (42" panasonic plasma), which is great but was a little surprising. This might be a stupid question, but are all BluRay discs that way (a true 16:9 ratio) or is this the PS3 doing that? Thanks!

Do yourself a favor and just set it to Normal. All Full Screen does is stretch 4:3 picture to fit into a 16:9 screen. It doesn't affect Blu-Ray disc anyway only DVD hence the option called DVD Upscaler.
Ok, yeah that makes sense. Any idea why all the BluRay movies I've watched have taken up the entire screen? (no black bars on top/bottom/sides)

i'm gonna say it's either a coincedence (there are a # of 16:9 blu-rays) or a setting on your tv.

it will make a difference on blu-rays. i had full screen setup while watching 300 and i noticed that there were no black bars.

The black bars will be present on 2.35 apect ratio films, not on 1.85 ratio.
