What's the biggest screen size I should get for my bedroom? And would 1080p matter on screens smaller than 50"?

How far will you be sitting from the TV?

I sit 11' from a 52" and it's perfect to me.

Better to be a little too big than too small.

Also, most folks say 1080 doesn't matter under 50", but I don't know first hand.

Coincidentally, I am using a 10'x11' bedroom as my one man home theater. I am projecting a 70" diagonal 16:9 image on a wall, and sit about 8' away from it. I think it looks great. The projector is a Mitsubishi 4900 1080p.

how are the pannys compared to pioneer?

Panasonic has some great TVs on market, the TH**PZ80/85/800s are great televisions and compete well against the Pioneers. They're not AS good as the Pioneers but a solid #2 in my book.

I agree with the other posters that you should get the best you can afford, and as to your question about 1080p, it all depends on how far away you're going to be from the television.

At 8 feet a 50" might be to large. In my opinion, a 46" would work best.

If you are sitting 8ft from the screen, you should buy:

52" for THX recommended minimum
58" for SMPTE recommended
72" for THX recommended ideal

OTOH, I watch a 42" 720p panasonic in the sitting room off the kitchen from 10' and its great for daily TV. But for movies i have a 720p PJ on 105" screen in an HT, where i sit 17' from the screen. If i move to 12ft, i'd want 1080p(others may not care as much as me).

Sounds like you want a TV for the bedroom, not a simulated movie screen.

From 8-9', get a 46".

I have a small living room, and I purchased a 42"...thinking a 50 would be too big. Now I want a 50".:) So, I would say, get a size bigger than what you think you need.

And 720p will be fine.
You'd want 50" 1080p if you were closer than 8ft.
