Comments on which would be a more satisfying image - mix of SD and HD DVD, shooting for a 100" diag screen in a fairly well light controlled room?

I was leaning toward old stock PE8720, but I'm wondering if even the lower-end 1080 PLV-Z2000 will compare favorably? The PLV-2000 is said to be relatively dim, but is the PE8720 really much brighter in best (cinema) mode?
