Durbo20vT 05-07-08, 05:08 PM Looks like EA didnt drop the ball on this boxing game afterall. And Tyson is confirmed to be in the game.

I chuckled at the Mr Dream comment...
EA has announced that Fight Night Round 4 is currently in production for the Xbox 360 and PS3. The game will feature a reworked gameplay engine that allows for different varieties of fighting styles to more accurately represent some of the fighters’ real-life fighting styles. This allow players to pit some of the world’s greatest boxers against each other. This will also mark the first time Mike Tyson has been featured in a video game for almost a decade. The last Fight Night game was used to show off the evolution of the next generation of gaming, so you can probably expect more jaw-dropping graphics from this one. Look for the game to hit store shelves sometime next year. And let’s all hope they don’t suddenly replace Tyson with a modern version of Mr. Dream, even though that would be kind of funny.
sumavguy 05-07-08, 05:13 PM I'm so glad its coming back, I never was a big boxing fan until this came out... ok I lied.. I did love Mike Tysons Punch out, or should I say Mr. Dream Punch Out
_Avarice_ 05-07-08, 05:19 PM Let's hope they get the load times under an hour this go-round :p
blklightning 05-07-08, 05:22 PM hell yes. pre-mental midget mike tyson ftmfw.
nineteen70 05-07-08, 05:26 PM I thought they wasn't making the game anymore but since they are I am glad EA is going to put some real effort behind this game. I guess 2k boxing didn't sit well with EA. Can't wait for the game.

maybe they actually heard that we were pissed about canceling this franchise....
The game engine is being completely re-written
Engine rewrites are never good.
talbain 05-08-08, 01:03 PM Engine rewrites are never good.
well fight night round 3 was a new engine, so who knows? i say change is good. they can go back in and change what was wrong with the first game (though i don't think very much was...)
Lets hope load times are fixed and the online system is COMPLETELY redone. Worst online system I've seen.
Besides that I loved FNR3. Tyson... He's going to rock people. Can't wait to use him!
Smurf Byte 05-08-08, 01:13 PM I thought round 3 felt like they were boxing underwater. Was anyone else underwhelmed by the sluggishness?
briankmonkey 05-08-08, 01:19 PM FN3 was indeed pretty sluggish. Maybe I just need a non - "Sim" style boxer though. I had the game but didn't play it much.
Mike Tyson is a great marketing move. If they let him rip some ears off then they'll sell even more copies.

Agreed. The main thing they need to make sure the game has is "snap" to the punches. It is the single most important part of the experience. To do this they'll need to smooth out the punch animations better than before and improve the frame rate.
talbain 05-08-08, 02:45 PM i disagree about the sluggishness. maybe with the button presses it was sluggish, but if you used the analog stick to control your punches you could fire off some lightning fast combos. you could always tell the newbies online by their use of the buttons...

Yeah, if you did the right combos it would move, but if you didn't it did seem kinda sluggish. Its tough at first to get those combos timed right.
Durbo20vT 12-16-08, 05:04 PM a little update i saw recently on this title... Tyson vs Ali

I never heard that they were canceling the franchise. When EA Chicago closed down I heard Fight Night moved to EA Canada (Vancouver). I thought FN3 was a good game besides the loading times. Looking forward to Fight Night 4.

Didn't Vancouver do the PS3 port? They did a pretty good job in a very short amount of time. Very little difference from the original on the xbox.
They needed to redo the game, FN3,2, ect
were all rock n sock game with good graphics, the animations were garbage and the gameplay was generic crap.
