Tonight I was watching the 5pm news in Chicago on Channel 5 which is the NBC affiliate here. They did a story on a local family that had purchased a Mitsubishi DLP 60 inch televison during the last year(didn't say which model). After a short time the bulb burned out and had to be replaced. After being replaced the second bulb also burned out after a short time. Their complaints to MITS and the fact that they had been contacted by a California attorney who is filing a class action suit against MITS, was the what the story was about.
During the telling of the story, they of course interviewed the man who had purchased the television. He told the reporter how he had carefully researched many different models before buying the MITS. It was during this segment that the AVS website was shown on screen as one of the tools the man had used . They gave no real resolution to the mans problem. MITS gave a statement that they work hard to solve problems of customers. The segment ended showing the famliy sitting in a room watching a small tv while the DLP was shut off. The man stated that he was afraid to turn it on because he didn't want another bulb to burn out and cost him 200+.
