I have my PS3 connected (with HDMI cables) to my Pioneer 1150 through my Yamaha RXV4600. I did this to enjoy the uncompressed soundtracks available on a lot of of BD's. As my receiver is a few years old and not 1.3 compliant (it's 1.1), it is my understanding that it cannot pass Deep Color from my PS3 to the TV. I can see this as when I connect the PS3 directly to the TV, the TV displays a 1080p 36 bit signal. When I connect through the receiver, it still shows 1080p but 36 bit is not displayed. Is Deep Color worth buying a new receiver for? I don't want to give up the uncompressed audio but am I missing anything by not having deep color passed through to my TV? From what I understand, the content has to be created with deep color. Is that correct? And is it true that there is little to no Deep Color content available? Thanks for your help!

Well since the PS3 isn't passing Deep Color in the first place (doesn't exist in any source material) there is no point getting a new receiver for Deep Color :) Now if you want to pass the HD audio codecs....different story.

Deep Color is a Deep Joke.

Hey thanks, that's what I suspected. I love my receiver and didn't want to replace it anyway. The uncompressed audio tracks are fantastic. I'm disappointed when I rent a BD and it doesn't have one.
