Just received Golden Compass from Amazon today, The PQ is awesome
I just have Yamaha soundbar and woofer so not getting into the audio end. You can check my profile for equipment used, I don't like paying 27.95 but I will be viewing this movie again and again.

how is the soundbar? I would like to get my parents one as I would like their sound to be better, but without all the extra hassle of a full setup.

I upgraded everything at the same time. I just decided after looking at all the cables I had with my old 5 speaker setup I too wanted a much simpler setup. Definitely if you decide to go soundbar get the woofer. I planned to when I got the sound bar to get woofer but there was a 60 day delay between purchases as I wanted to spread purchases out so one was paid for before I got the woofer. So I was impressed with the woofer difference. We like it.
