does anyone have a suggestion for the best receiver to use for this projector? i'll be using a ps3 for a bluray player, and have a HD PVR digital box for television.

thanks...

"Best" is pretty subjective, but we'll need some more info from you.

1. Budget?
2. 5.1, 7.1?
3. Do you have speakers?
4. Room Size?
5. etc, etc, etc.

With that info we can help with informed suggestions/preferences.

Good Luck!

Obviously something that passes 1080p/24 through HDMI. Which would be all HDMI 1.3 rceivers that support audio via HDMI. Some of the older HDMI 1.1 and 1.2 receivers do support 1080p24 though.

Also, people can't help you unless you give your budget and room size and speakers.

You will probably get better responses in the AMPs, Receivers, and Processors forum:

If you are set with just the PS3 and cable DVR, the Yamaha RX-V661 would be a good budget choice since it will accept PCM over HDMI and the PS3 can't bitstream the advance audio codecs. The Yamaha RX-V883 would be a good choice if you want to be ready for a source that does output bitstream for decoding by an external decoder. As suggested, the Onkyo receivers are likely a good choice as well, but more information would be helpful with recommendations.

The PS3 will now decode the latest codecs so he does not need an AVR that has that capability. I will agree that the Onkyo's are a good choice for the money. I bought an 805 myself.

Last fall I upgraded my theater w/ the Panny pj, Denon 3808 + HD sources. Really great stuff, although I confess that I run the front three channels through a power amp (Acurus 200w x 3).

thanks for the replies, even though i didn't give any info...

truthfully, i'd spend up to $1500. i want to be able to take advantage of the full capabilities of the ps3 bluray player. i was concerned that i would lose audio, and video quality, unless i got the right one.

my brother works for panasonic...so one of those would be my perferred choice...but i'm in no way tied to it!!! i just want the best receiver for the money.

5.1...7.1...i wasn't really sure. the room is about 15 x 10.

thanks again.

I'm getting a 2000u for my basement remodel and I'm pairing it with an Onkyo 805 if that helps.
