Need help guys, my set is less than 2 years old- out of warranty.

Setup: I have hd cable box and samsung dvd connected to an onkyo 604 through component and the receiver passing the video to the 57f59 through component.

I started noticing a 2" hum bar (tinted see through bar) rising vertically approx. 2" per second. No other inputs are connected to the tv. I switched between input 3 and 4 with same results. Bypassing the receiver and HU direct to the tv has same results.

I tried connecting only my dvd player with composite to input 1 and 2 and get a stationary hum bar of same dimensions at the lower third of the screen.

I tried switching cables and got the same results. I don't have a hdmi cable to test that input (ordering from monoprice tonight).

At the very least there must be a grounding problem in the tv, no?
Is there anything esle to test for?
Is it easy to replace the input panel in the back?)
Do I need a new DM board? (what is a dm board?)

Please help me

Ryan

Are any of your equipment using a three prong plug wire? If so try a cheater plug adapter on it and see if your tv hum bar goes away.

My toshiba hd-dvd player has three prong plug wire and it gave me a hum bar on my screen no matter if the player was on or off and no matter what input I was using.

I put on a cheater plug and the problem disappeared.

Only the surge protector uses a 3-pronger. No change with the cheater plug.
Thanks for the reply
