Hi, this thread is probably more for AV rental cos dealing with Orion flat panels MIS 4220. Anyone experience these panels cracking very easily? I have the MIS4210 & they work fine. The new ones seem to have an issue where they are really delicate? Any comments or have you heard anything similar. I would definitely like to hold the company accountable if that's the case since I've heard they are making a new one with stronger borders. Thanks in advance for any feedback... cheers.

Orion MPDP MIS 4220 are quite nice. We had some problems with early 4220 firmware while developing our Bliscom DracoEye control software for Orion MPDP MIS 4220 (some unsupported commands and strange responses), but from the customer's point of view 4220 is OK. Moreover, the recent update of 4220 firmware fixes all the previous problems, so we are glad to dealing with a new model. Note, that one of its important advantages is special covering of the screen that makes it convenient for TV studios & shows (MIS4210 suffers from glares).

I have been having nothing but problems with the 4220. They will break if you look at them wrong. You are right. Seems odd that they had the 4210 with a bezel. Came out with the 4220 and all of a sudden they are releasing the 4220/r. with a bezel again. Seems they realize that these are a problem but won't admit it.

They break to quik indeed!

But can somebody tell me how I can change the colour temperature of the screens?
My software is 3.0...Can this be the problem?
How can I get a 4.0 version?

Thanx in advance! Jan

Hi guys,
I work in a video rental company.
We have 17 of the MIS-4210 display.
Do you know how to calibrate them without going crazy playing with all those numbers?
We need to calibrate them because they are not always used all togheter, so the colorimetry starts to be different (after 1 year of work).
Now we are going to buy some more of the 4210 used and of course they will be different from ours one, so the job starts to be pretty difficult.
Isn't there any automatic way to do it? ...I don't know, with some special tools or whatever. It is not possible to play with all the WhiteBalance RGB, WhiteBalance RGB gain, WhiteBalance RGB OffSet, grafic RGB, graphic RGB gain...all of these are driving me up the wall!
How do you do it???
Thanks everybody!
Andrea

P.s. Any chance that somebody is selling some of the old model MIS-4210? (In europe would be better)

I installed 9 4210's for a client and have had nothing but trouble. We recently updated the firmware and it seems to work as of today. The problem is that when you update firmware the colour settings that are provided are overwritten to default. Apparently there is equipment out there to calibrate it but it is quite expensive. If anyone has any tips on calibrating these things...I'm sure we would all be grateful.......

Andrea...there is a backdoor code in your software to get to the RGB settings if that is what you are asking.....PM me

Hi,... this is John Cho from Salitek... the exclusive US distributor of the Orion display systems. To answer your question,... the best way to color balance is to use a pattern generator and a color analyzer. The patterns you'd want to run are varying gray scales and % of brightness. Using the analyzer... you'd want to adjust the red, blues, and greens, among the various panels. To adjust brightness... simply adjust the colors evenly. There are hidden menus to access the adjustment panel... please feel free to contact me at jcho@salitek.net - or - Orionplasma on AIM.

Yes... the fragility is an issue that can't be adjusted without changing the mullion size. We now offer a 'reinforced' bezel that doubles the mullion from 2.3mm to >5mm. Any model... the 4220's 4230's and the new 4240's and 50's all have the 'R' option available. Please feel free to contact us at jcho@salitek.net

Hi everyone,

First of all: nice work on tackling some of the problems. I learned quit a few reading the threads.

Can someone help me with a problem I have with one of the Orion 4220 TV? Here are the details:

- VGA, S-Video and Composite does not work and DVI is the only signal which works

- At a resolution of 640 x 480 the VGA signal works

- Any command I am sending (using a Crestron processor) will be executed

- When in VGA 1024 x 760 I am getting a pink image

I contacted Orion Korea and I was told that I should change the “IP board”. I am not convinced that this is the solution. I believe that, while sending some commands to the cluster, I may have changed the format of this TV from PAL (768 x 576) to NTSC (720 x 480). Do you know what string I should send to this TV to fix it, if you also think that this is the problem?
