Hi,

There is a back light button right below the lens. What does it do? I press the button and the LCD become brighter. Is it just for making the LCD brighter? Or for shooting video in certain condition? like at night time without enought light?

Thanks.

My understanding is that you should use this feature to compensate for certain lighting condition (nothing to do with the LCD persay).

The typical case that I personally use the backlight mode for is when I shoot somebody indoor and there's a window in the background. Because of the daylight coming from the window, the camcorder would normally lower the exposure to try to catch the details outside, but that makes everything else inside much darker. Clicking on the "back light" button in this case somehow tweaks the AE (maybe even the gamma curve) to keep the inside subjects properly exposed.

I'm sure there are other cases where this feature is useful, like in a concert with a lot of spotlights. But, to my understanding, this is what the "back light" mode is for.
