Hi guys,

I'm currently trying to configure my set-up in my new living room in my small apartment. Going to be getting new equipment as my pioneer VSX-1016 is a bit dated with no HDMI. I also have existing orb audio speakers in a 5.1 setting in my current place. I intend to do a 7.1 system with new equipment. I happened to come across 2 sets of Anthony Gallo Dues which I hope to integrate into my setup. Current set up in my mind on the speakers are 2 Dues as mains L/R, an orb audio Mod4 as centre, 2 Dues as side surrounds and 2 orb audio Mod2s as rear surrounds. I know there may be an issue of timbre matching but giving the previous history of these two speaker companies, I'm hoping its not that much of a problem. For the surrounds I understand non-matching speakers are not so much of a fuss. Am also toying with going back to a 5.1 with the Dues as mains and surrounds and the Mod4 as centre, or even 3 Dues as mains with Mod2s as surrounds (but that leaves me with some unused speakers and lacking 7.1). Appreciate your thoughts on the setup.

Thanks very much.

Having the front three match s pretty important IMHO.

There is a scene in 2001 A Space Odyssey, where the actors are walking across the screen from left to right. Back in the day I had an un-matched center speaker and the effect was noticeable and distracting.

So personally, I'd go with 3 Dues across the front, and then figure out how/where to place the remaining Orbs to best effect.

Good luck.
