Any suggestions on the 'easiest' way to get recorded shows off of my DCH3416 to my Mac? I'm a new user to Comcast but I've never taken recorded shows off of my DirecTV box before either so it's very unfamiliar territory.

I don't want to leave a computer hooked up to my box. I just want to be able to come in and hook my laptop up to the box then rip/download a show or two to the laptop.

Help would be great, thanks.

There's an application from the FireWire SDK that you can use to capture video streamed via FireWire from a cable box; see here (http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/printthread.php?t=386740) for more details on how it's done. Keep in mind that it's not as simple as "downloading" just the episode you want; you have to being playback on the DVR, start the capture on the computer, and the transfer happens at realtime speed.
