Hi,
I am trying to upload some AVCHD video clip to VIMEO but it does not support m2ts format. Anyone knows how to convert to suitable format for VIMEO without lossing HD video quality?
Thanks.

Vimeo does support AVCHD and .m2ts shouldn’t be a problem although I haven’t tried it. Try uploading a video with the .m2ts extension and if they can’t convert it then try changing the extension to .mp4 and upload that next.

I tried both by uploading m2ts format or changed it to mp4. However, both are not working. It gave me an error at the end if I changed to mp4.

From a thread I read elsewhere a couple of days ago, Vimeo seems to be very much a moving target. Although this won't provide a direct answer to your question, you may still find it helpful to read.

P.S. I'm pretty new here so I hope I'm not breaking any rules by posting links to other forums.

I find the video quality on Vimeo to be very good. I use it exclusively now that I have the SR11. My page (http://www.vimeo.com/user440842/videos) is for sharing soccer videos of my oldest daughter with the rest of my family.
A suggestion to the original poster. If you don't already have a video editor I suggest investing in one. Pinnacle Studio can be had on sale for less than 100 dollars if you shop around. I use Pinnacle to convert M2TS to WMV before uploading to Vimeo. Converting M2TS to 720p WMV at 5mbit produces excellent quality and small file sizes.

i convert avchd to wmv hd at 720p to upload to vimeo. the general hd instructions on vimeo uses imovie (i think) as an example for describing their preferred settings but i use ulead vs plus 11.5 (vista) and couldn't replicate any of their suggestions. so, depending on what software you use, wmv might be the best way.
fyi, they tell you what formats they accept and restrict uploads to 500mb/week.
Here's a blog entry how to encode compact HD video for Vimeo using Vegas/Tmpgenc xpress:

I also did several comparisons to original and found some unexpected downscaling issues. It seems Vegas doesn't rescale (probably WMV encoder does it) and Tmpgenc Xpress does rescale (and you can select a method):

I wonder if there's a bicubic/lancos resizing filter in Vegas. I couldn't find it.
