Im gonna hook up My television (T5087S) to Yamaha RX-V363, and Yamaha speakers NS-SP1600. I need help with wiring. What kinda Optical cable do I get, toslink or mini for my Xbox 360 and my Directv HD DVR. I also am wondering where and what kind of speaker wire I should buy thats not to expensive. My budget for the speaker wire is like 40 bux. I am thinking I should get 100 ft. My living room is about 20' length and 15' wide. I also have cathedral cielings about 11 or 12 ft. high at its highest point. I am also looking for a component wire extender for my Xbox 360 so i can put it further away from my tv. I went to mono price and thats where I saw the different kind of opticals minni and toslink which really confused me. I was also looking at 16 gauge wires but I am not sure thats what I need or if they were the right wires. I need 2 opticals about 6 ft. or 10 ft.. Im not even sure how much speaker wire I need, and a extender to make my component cables longer for my Xbox360. Can anyone help!!! Thanks for reading.

The longer the speaker run the better the quality of speaker wire you will need. I would say 14 gauge should suffice. You can get it at Home Depot/Lowes/Menards, etc. Don't worry about the name brand on the speaker wires. The gauge will tell you how thick the copper is. If you are using it in wall make sure you get CL2 wire (approved for in wall use). How many speakers? 5.1? 6.1? 7.1? More speakers means you need more wire. You will need more than you think too. $40 isn't going to get you too far, even buying generic (and shipping heavy is expensive if you can't find any locally).

Component extender would just be a component female to male cable.

Toslink is all you need. They were once expensive, but now are pretty cheap.

Monoprice is a great one stop shop for you. Just don't buy ANYTHING at Best Buy or any other electronics store. They GUT PEOPLE on cables.
