View Full Version : A better deal than Powerbuys chiltown 05-12-08, 08:15 PM For those in the Northeast, check out this link http://www.mybobs.com/motion/multiplex.asp MidLife 05-12-08, 08:53 PM cool deal, but, I would like armrests. There's only two for four seats. :( BIGmouthinDC 05-13-08, 09:12 AM Ad copy "Quality at these prices is only something that you will see at Bob's Discount Furniture!" I'm not making this up! It doesn't say it's good quality just that you have to look at it before you buy. That would be my recommendation JOHNnDENVER 05-13-08, 05:20 PM I'd like to hear from somebody, anybody that has tried this line? To me it just doesn't look like what very many people here are looking for. You never know though. pcdoctor 05-13-08, 06:31 PM To me it just doesn't look like what very many people here are looking for. You never know though. I was thinking the same thing. I'm frugal and on a budget but this stuff looks cheap! McCall 05-13-08, 09:25 PM Bob's sells absolute junk! Johnsteph10 05-13-08, 10:14 PM Nice to see the OP continue his previous trend. That "furniture" is junk. You get what you pay for -- give it a rest, man. I'm sorry that you are so against Berkline -- did a recliner steal your girlfriend when you were younger? Or fell on your dog? There has to be a reason you continue your one man crusade. Maybe your real name IS "Bob....." :D chiltown 05-18-08, 06:52 PM I went to sit on this model and it is actually comfortable and well made. The only observation was the specification of the foam. It stated that it had a 1.85 density which is on par with both Berkline and Coaster. It seems as if most manufacturers are scaling back on the quality of foam in order to save money while also brainwashing consumers into thinking that plush low-quality foam is actually better. Mike_67 05-18-08, 08:37 PM I bought something very similar, in black leather, from Overstock.com for around $1600 shipped (after discount code). It's called the Beldon 7-piece Leather Recliner Home Theater Set. http://cdn.overstock.com/images/products/P10764770b.jpg Quite happy with it. Nice, thick leather, firm cushions, and plenty of storage. There were no brand name markings anywhere on the cartons. I did however find a small piece of paper stuck underneath one seat with what appeared to be Chinese writing. No surprise there. I seriously considered the Berklines from Roman for a few hundred more, but my wife & I decided that we didn't need an armrest between us. ;) We always flip up the one at the Movie Theater to make room for the popcorn anyway. :p Also the power recline of the Berklines wasn't a very important feature for us. Bottom line is, buy what suits your needs. No rights & wrongs, just personal choices. Bob's is only a better deal than Powerbuys if it's what you want. Mike xmenxmenxmen 05-19-08, 11:36 AM the would be quite perfect for me. Too bad there's no bob in the west. windrockwater 05-19-08, 06:02 PM I purchased a Bobs sectional with built in recliner love seat for my HT. Frankly it is a little cheap (and the cost was low). So you do get what you pay for. I am probably going to give it away to a friend or family at some point and replace with either recliners or a better sectional. terrible_buddhis 05-20-08, 10:38 AM I am really not in any ones camp for chairs...but I did happen to check these out a few months ago...they struck me as both cheap and ugly when I saw them, and not very comfortable when I sat in them. Bobs 'tempurpedic' mattress was actually more comfortable to me than the real thing though. chiltown 05-25-08, 01:00 PM In case you are curious, Bob's furniture is made by Standard Furniture. They are also starting to carry Lane at better prices than online. I know that Lane makes home theater seating, but haven't heard how it compares to Coasters. |
