I have sent my Sony Ruby in twice now for the same issue and projector doctor cant seem to fix it, it just keeps comming back more scratched up and with cheaper packaging. I tried to get sony to let me send it to Larado, but they refused and said I had to keep trying with projector dr.. The problem is the lamp cover one and the ruby is a little over 2yrs now. I have a feeling that the way they handle the projector and packaging, it may have got more damage. They threw away the original box that it came in and sent it back in a large box with those silver wrapped foam pieces loosely surrounding it. I could feel the projector move around while moving the box from one room to the next. At least they sent the protective lens cover back with power cord in a bag instead of protecting the lens? I dont know where to go now and really wanted keep this projector for 2 to 3 more years. Has any one had similar problems with sony? Is there any way to scare them into giving me better service? Its been about 3 months with out my Home Theater and Im getting desperate. Any help would be greatly appriciated. Thanks.

Justin,

Have you tried to get your dealer involved with Sony? They might have some leverage. Is Laredo not servicing Ruby's anymore? I had mine there about 6 months ago and it was a very smooth process.

I have been back and forth with sony and the 3rd party extended warrenty that sony ripped me off with (purchased extnd warrenty from sony and they wont help). I spoke with sony for a couple hours this am and still got the run around after getting to level 2 customer serv.. They say the best they can do for me is have me send it in to larado so there serv. tecs can repair it and charge me full price, and if Im lucky I can file another claim and mabe get reimbursed. What a great deal I got from sony. Buy the extended warrenty for 500+ and pay sony to repair it any way after its past the 2yr original warrenty.

I hate to sound like Im complaining, but I really want to warn future customers of the customer service they will be getting. Do you think any one would be interested in hearing the entire incident from the beginnig. I have never had this much trouble with customer service in my entire 39 yrs of life.

I never buy service warranties... they always rip off the purchaser.

Yeah the more that I think about it, this is terrible. Do they have more than one service center?

Yes they have more, but they try and find the closest one, I think probably to save in shipping costs. Wait who am I kidding, I cant even get them to reimburse me for the shipping I wasn't supposed to have to pay in the first place. I found out that this is covered in the extended warranty but they don't know why I wasn't told this. I'm still trying to get them to pay me back from the first time I sent it in, they claim there still reviewing my shipping claims. Its been well over 3 months since I first sent my projector in to projector dr.. If there is one thing I have learned from this experience it would be to always buy from AVS because of there exceptional service even after the sale and maybe to never trust sony again. The worst part is I really love my ruby projector and dont want to buy a new one.
