Ok, what DVD player on the market today has either an "auto off", sleep, or screen saver function that actually works once the DVD returns the main menu. I remember that Panasonic had a sleep function that you could set to AUTO which would turn the DVD player off 5 minutes after the movie ended but I do not even want 5 minutes of content sitting on my plasma screen IF I forget to set the TV's sleep timer (which I am tired of worrying about). I guess I am really looking for something with an auto-off function that shuts the DVD player off immediately after the movie ends but does such a thing exist?

Also, the Oppo 980 has a screen saver mode that you can select and customize to a certain degree. You can download their user manuals to decide which function might work best for you.

The H/K DVD-48 manual shows it has this feature:

"NOTE: The DVD 48 features a screen saver that you may set
to appear automatically after a period of inactivity. However, the
screen saver does not become activated when the DVD 48’s
Setup menus are on screen. The DVD 48 also allows you to set
one of two Auto Power Off modes in the GENERAL SETUP
menu that turn off the DVD 48 after a longer period of inactivity."

I would think the DVD-47 model and maybe all the H/K DVD models have this same feature, which is pretty common in players these days.
