i am looking to get a FP TV to use as my primary video output device. i will be using it to play computer and console games as well as to watch movies and TV but computer games the most. i am thinking of going with a 32" or a 37" and was looking to keep the price around $1000 but the more i can save the better. i have read allot on the net, so much so that i am beginning to confuse myself, so I am looking for recommendations on models. also if my computer can not put out the native rez will that be a problem? i have two months to make a decision so any objective advise would be nice, some thing i can't find in the stores. thanks

in terms of top tier manufacturers, at that price range, you have the samsung 550. comes in a 37 inch model. i believe sharp also produces a decent 37 incher in your price range.

I think the Samsung 550 is getting good talk for video games and computer usage.
I second mindoculus' recommendation.
They make a 40" as well, 1080p.

I have been doing more research and i should really ask what specs should i look for in a good gaming/movie TV? i like my deep blacks so what contrast level should i be looking at or should i judge that with my eye at the store and first hand reviews online? i should go with a faster responce time, 5ms or less, but will i see a diffrance between standard 60Hz and 120Hz? is there any thing else i should be looking for?
Is there a spec that will help me determine if there will be ghosting, blurring, or other artifacts when playing on my computer. i don't have a lap top and if i did i don't think the local stores would let me test it out
Should i even consider hooking my computer to the TV until it can run smoothly in the TV's native resolution?
again this will be a 32 or 37 inch and i will be sitting 4-6 feet from it and am looking to spend $1000 or less. the guys at best buy recomended a sony 32" im not shure on the model but it was 1080p 120Hz and 5ms refresh rate and had a nice deep black and sharp image for $1100. thanks for your time
thanks for the info ill go look at the samsung tomarow
i looked at the samsung 550 and while there they showed me the samsung PN42A450 which was about the same cost, so i think i am deciding between the sony 32" BRAVIAŽ XBR, 37" samsung 550 and the 42" samsung PN42A450 what do you think would be the best choice?
