Hey all,
As the subject states, I am getting no video from my M55 via HDMI to my new Toshiba 46"XF550. I have never used the HDMI out on this player before and read in a review a while back that the reviewer had to "wake up" the HDMI software in the player by toggling the function on and off a few times in the set up but this had done nothing... It is sending the audio but no video...
I have sent the question to NAD service through their site 8 days ago and have heard nothing... Nice right?
Anyway, please give some suggestions.
Thanks so much
PS: it is a new cat. 2 cable. Could the player and tv be incompatible?

Could you connect it by some other means, say composite or s-video, so that you could see the menus? Perhaps there is a setting that needs to be adjusted.

Yep... the setting for HDMI has been toggled on and off a few times trying to "wake up" the software but not change... Still just audio and no vid.

So you can see the player menus on the screen when connected by means other than HDMI?
The HDMI is connected directly from the player to the display, not through a receiver or switch box?
Have you tried powering display and player off, then power display on first, then player?
Does this player support multiple output resolutions? What happens if you cycle through them?
-Bill
Yes, yes and yes... I just tried the powering off order and no change...
Also just tried toggling through resolutions and it didnt pick it up. I may try that some more in another order including some power offs.

Have you tried a different HDMI cable?
Do you know that the display accepts HDMI properly from other sources?
Can you try the player with a different display?
-Bill
Nothing working yet...
I could buy another cable I guess.
I dont know if I understand your second question. It is Toshiba's newest top 120hz 5:5 LCD, so I would assume all would be fine... Although, it does state in the manual that it my not be compatible with all sources. I will have to check that quote again to be sure.
I have no other HDMI TV in the house.

Unless it's busted.
If the display accepts and shows images on HDMI from any source, then the display is ok. So it would be handy to try it with another HDMI source.
If the player displays an image through HDMI on any other display, then the player is ok. So taking the player somewhere and trying it on another display would be a good test.
If another cable works then the first cable is bad.
If everything works separately but they don't work together, then there are settings on the player or display or both that are out of whack.
-Bill
Oh of course! I know the process of elimination here. I don't know why your wording threw me off. there is clearly nothing wrong with it. Your wording that is...
I guess I am assuming it is the player since it is passing audio, the TV is new and other wise problem free, and the player has reportedly had this very issue... That is why I would love to hear from NAD before I go buying another cable... My recording days tell me to just check the cable first.
So from here I will take the player to my neighbor for a test, then probly hafta buy an Oppo to test the TV's HDMI video acceptance.
Sure would love to hear from NAD.
