View Full Version : Enjoy this journalistic piece of crap courtesy of Gamespot re the new Hulk game
whiskey > work 05-18-08, 09:05 PM Ugh. Did I really just read that? Wonder how much they are getting to hype up this game that likely will be rubbish. Read at your own risk

vancouver 05-18-08, 09:13 PM Hate to say it...most reviews are biased. Money talks lauder then reality.
Just think about GTA 4...10 out of 10?! lol..its good, but FAR from great.
darklordjames 05-18-08, 09:35 PM We get it, whiskey. You don't like Gamespot. There really is no need to come here and tell us every single time that they do something to get your panties in a bunch.
CaCHooKa Man 05-18-08, 09:35 PM what would you do if the game was good?
what would you do if the game was good?
Is there a threat of that actually being the case?
formulanerd 05-18-08, 11:42 PM Is there a threat of that actually being the case?
you make a very valid point :D

The first Hulk game on Xbox was one of the system's best games. I'd say there is a good chance.
cstrasz 05-19-08, 12:33 AM Different development studio though. This one's Edge of Reality.
Lol, did anyone actually open the article? I'm pretty sure he was commenting on how it was written... and yes, it was painful to read. I'm sorry you read the whole thing. I stopped after I saw it continued after the first paragraph haha.

I figure if it was a game worth looking forward to it would have been covered better than it was.
The fact that they had to make a joke about covering the game makes me think that the game in itself is a joke. Maybe it's great, but that doesn't come across in the pre/review. Either way, a poor editorial decision on Gamespot's part.

I don't think the two have anything to do with each other. There are mountains of "serious" previews of crappy games on GameSpot.
WilliamR 05-19-08, 10:12 AM Game informer gave it high marks too, the screenshots looked impressive.

I agree. That was one of the worst reads ever. A couple sentences of the tarzan/caveman nonsense would have been a couple too many.
whiskey > work 05-19-08, 12:54 PM No, no. I bet the game will be decent. Look at the thread title. It's a journalistic nightmare. I never said the game will suck, but just look at that article! Frickin horrible. And no, I'm not a huge fan of gamespot so this only fueled the fire for me.
edit: oops I did actually say the game will suck. It was more directed at the article. I try not to form judgements before playing
What who doesn't like a review written in 3rd person from the perspective of an angry radioactive monster:rolleyes: I got two sentences in before my brain melted. Besides I don't ever remember the Hulk talking. If he wanted to write an authentic review he should have made it a two page series of short and long grunts.
C'mon fellas we all know the drill by now:
1. Talk a game up prior to release.
2. Trash it upon release.
The Onion saw fit to allow the Hulk to write an editorial in similar prose:

Well if you look at it The Onion piece was actually written by "The Hulk", so my guess is the game review was written by him as well just now he has taken the pseudonym 'Brian Ekberg':D It doesn't quite have the pizazz that Mark Twain has but hey he obviously isn't that intelligent.;)

I think he already said it wasn't directed at the game but the actual writing skills of the dude that wrote the review.

Totally OT: I want to get an Aptera and paint it to look like one of the enemy robots from Descent :D

That would be SWEET. Descent was a great game. I had a 13 button joystick I played it with. Unfortunately a game like that wouldn't really work on a console controller (I don't think). That game was way ahead of its time.

You know what? You are absolutely right about that. And here I am trashing Gamespot when the Hulk is the one who has simply found a second career for himself as a writer..
WJonathan 05-21-08, 11:05 AM Actually I remember a bunch of old reviews of various Hulks games where the reviewer breaks into Hulkspeak for a while. And it's never amusing. The problem here is that most "game journalists" are stoner douchelords who think they're clever, hip, and funny when they soooooo are not.
whiskey > work 05-21-08, 11:10 AM It's Not A Review!!!
we know that. Thanks

I wouldn't put them that high. Doucheknight, perhaps, but certainly not a lord.
