Having a wierd problem with my Samsung LN40A650 and Call of duty 4. Whenever there is a flashbang or stun grenade, the tv kind of switches off, like its trying to find the source, then comes back on after about 5 seconds. Kind of annoying. Anyone have this problem or know how to fix?

Xbox is connected to the a650 via component.

Sounds like a bad power supply.

Thats awesome. That even adds more to the realism of COD4! Seriously though. That is weird and never heard of that.

LMAO, I can totally see this happening.

"Flashbang through the door!"

"BANG"

"Searching For Signal"

Ouch.

The 650 is the newest TV after the 71, so it'd kinda scare me to upgrade to it. ;p

A dieing switchbox caused a very similar issue like this for me which tended to only show itself during bright flashes in Metroid Prime. If you have any devices between the 360 and the TV, then wire up directly and see if the problem goes away. That will tell you your switcher is doing something wrong. :) Otherwise, either your 360's output, or the TV's input is having issues.

Why does this happen? Luma and sync are on the same cable in component. Apparently the bright increase in luma interferes with the sync part of the signal.

I have the same issue. I have a component matrix switcher between my tv and xbox. The TV goes black for a second when there is a very bright scene. Its relating to ac/dc current stuff (I'm no EE :) ). If you change the connection to HDMI or VGA it will work fine or if you connect straight to the tv.

The 650's old firmware isn't good with 1080p via component. If you upgrade to the newest firmware, Samsung has fixed all the issues. Go to the owners thread in the LCD forum for a direct link to download the new firmware.

Once installed your problems will be gone.

hey did upgrading the firmware fix the problem for you? i just bought the TV today and i'm having the same problem with the flashbang or any bright screen for that matter. I upgraded the firmware from 1001.5 to 1003.M and the problem still persist!!

The newest firmware fixes the problem, not 1003.m. I believe it's "2003" check the main 650 thread on page one to get it.

I have the 52a650 (yes, I'm Huge:p). firmware 2003 fixed the issue but caused other issues while watching tv so I down graded to 1003.m but the issues with 360 at 1080p is gone. I guess 2003 firmware left the fix behind even though I went back to a previous firmware.

I also like 1003.m better (and also own the 52 inch 650) but I use HDMI so I didn't need the fix anyway. Great news that it works in reverse! Strange but good for all Compo users.

Bandwidth. The first receivers that switched component would freak out on anything higher than about 40mhz. Bright white was a common offender. That said, if the 360 is connected directly to the set, I would either lower contrast or call service, or both.

Don't lower contrast or call service. In fact, disregard the post above. As has been stated all over this post, the new firmware fixes this problem.

Sorry, I'm used to Samsung updates being partially effective. Glad the update works though.
