oman321 05-19-08, 08:48 AM Hi Roman,
Good to see another powerbuy. I see that it runs till the end of June. Curios to know how far back can I push delivery, from then?
Also I see the 13175 now comes in a 4 seat with a loveseat config is this correct?
oman321,
We can accommodate your request and ship when necessary.
The 13175 chair/loveseat/chair configuration sets in BLACK leather/vinyl combo will be available for shipping in the end of July - beginning of August. The number of sets is limited and will be sold on first come first served basis. Custom order for these recliners is possible, but will take up to 4 months to get.
oman321 05-19-08, 09:14 AM That's great, thanks.
Just want to say that Roman is great and you should definately give him a call if you are considering theater chairs. Great service, great pricing, really nice guy!
taylor34 05-19-08, 01:17 PM Hey Roman--
I see that the Berkline 90 has a promotion with the Tier 1 leather. Is that the typical deal where you get grade 3 leather for the grade 1 price? I know that they had been running some promotion like that before, wasn't sure if this was the same thing. Thanks!
Taylor34
Taylor34,
The promotions that have been ran before like group 3 or group 2 for the price of group 1 are gone,no more. The promotions on the 090s and 099s are on Cut&Sew 7049 covers only.
handcuff 05-20-08, 12:00 AM Hey Roman,
I keep watching your powerbuys and hoping "maybe this time" for convincing the wife. She wants the seating, but always wants something else a little bit more (foolishly spending our money on food and heat). Hopefully this will be the time...it's hitting on my birthday, so maybe I can leverage that.
That being said, I'm a good sized guy (6'2, 260 lbs - 40 inch waist and a 52 inch chest). My brother, who is the same height but significantly smaller in waist/chest than I am isn't as happy with chairs he has (bought some less expensive/lower quality HT seats from a Dallas distributor...they are OK, but there is a lack of height for head support). Are any of your chairs on here a decent fit for me?
I was looking at the 13174 set up in a curved chair/loveseat/chair combo (would go straight if space became an issue), but don't know if it would be good for someone my size. How does that fit with overall width/depth for the room? Do you know of a location in the Louisville area I can look at those seats for a test drive?
Thanks,
-Scott
I'm finally getting some bone fide theater seats for my room.:D
Berkline 12004s in black.
Can't wait.
handcuff,
The 13174s may or may not be a good choice depending on whether you have long legs or long torso. I also do not have the set you are looking for. We are getting a couple of sets in chair/loveseat/chair configuration, but it will be straight one and it will be available in the end of July beginning on August.
I cannot also tell you where you can possibly try them, unless you are willing to travel to NJ where I have them on display.
If you like to discuss your options the best would be giving me a call at (732) 617-2348
Milt99,
You meant 12000s, right? :)

What is the pricing on this config? Are they powered?
terrible_buddhis,
Yes, these are powered, and the pricing as well as all other power buy info is on the Power Buy page. Here is the link (http://www.rtheaters.com/powerbuy/berkline.html)again.
terrible_buddhis 05-20-08, 04:37 PM so the love seat would 'count' as 2 recliners?
nuevo_eph 05-20-08, 05:02 PM So which chairs are recommended for long torsos? I'm 6'4 and all torso.
Edit: I see you wrote, at one time, that the following are good for my situation:
091, 094, 099, 187, 194, 45002, 45012, 45014
nuevo_eph,
I would look into the chairs with the higher backs. Here is the list of the Berkline recliners that has 44'5" high back:
45001, 45002, 45012, 45014, 45025, 45091, 45094, 45099, 45187,
You can see them here: www.rtheaters.com/berkline (click on SPCES link next to the style group name to see the dimensions and various configurations you can build).
FYI:
The 45094 has trays that can be mounted on top of the armrests and storage compartments for the trays.
The 45187 is identical to the 45094 but without bells and whistles (no trays and storage compartments).
The 45012 would be the most comfortable IMHO, but probably not the best looking.
The 45002 is the same as the 45012, but comes w/two motors – one for the recliner, one for the headrest
The 45014 or 45025 would be a good balance in terms of comfort and look again IMHO (also have two motors). 45025 can be ordered without powered headrest, though.
terrible_buddhis,
Yes, the loveseat is 2 seats. Basically these are two independently controlled recliners put together to form a loveseat..
Milt99,
You meant 12000s, right? :)
12000, 12004 whatever it takes:D
Do these prices include shipping? If not, how much would the shipping charges be to the Harrisburg, PA area? Also, are these in stock and ready for delivery? I'm interested in a row of three of the 13217's in black (PM me please).
Greg,
I just replied to your email.
oman321 05-23-08, 11:47 AM Ok folks, thought I'd let everyone know that I am moving foward...finally.
Just wanted to publicly say thanks to Roman, he has been great to deal with and took the time to address my needs and concerns. He was extremely helpful in finding out my needs and gave me suggestions accordingly.
Looking to get delivery late summer early fall, so I will post up a review then most likely on my build thread.
Hi; any of these seats/chairs... space safers; wall huggers?
Thxs!!
Orlando,
You are very welcome.
Met64,
All Berkline and Private Collection seating recliners are wallaway - only require 4-6 inches behind the chair to allow for full recline.

Thanks for the quick reply. Now I am just debating on whether to go with excellent deal you are offering or go with a set of four floor model '88's without power and with camel colored microfiber from a local furniture store that is closing down and offering them at a very low price.
I really prefer leather and the power recline is nice (plus SWMBO doesn't like the color of the floor models all that much), but my wallet likes the deal from the store that is going out of business.
oman321 05-23-08, 03:15 PM Think about it though, if you have any problems with the seats who are you gonna call?
Karp,
As they say - the best price is not awlays the best deal...
indygreg 05-25-08, 11:15 PM roman,
two things. i pinged berkline to ask for dimensions to the 12000 group and they sent me the following. said it was not put into a spec sheet yet but they sent it anyway. of course i can make no assurances this is right but they lady there was very nice and sent me a link to a spreadsheet with these numbers.
12000 Group - Frampton
Piece Length Depth Height
3900 38 37 43
3901 38 37 43
5200 32 37 43
5201 32 37 43
5340 43 37 43
5341 43 37 43
5400 26 38 42.5
5401 26 38 42.5
5440 37 37 43
5441 37 37 43
if i read this right a row of 5 curved would be 186 minus whatever the curve takes away so maybe 181. this is slightly smaller than the 090.
Second point. you mentioned when we talked that it might be possible to order the 12000 in the burgandy leather. i am unable to find it anywhere to view. is it possible for you to post a pic of the burgandy to your web site or send it to me?
greg
uwansumadis 05-25-08, 11:31 PM what would be the dimensions of the 4 chairs with loveseat in the 13174 or the 12000's? I don't see those dimensions on the site. Thanks
Greg,
These dimensions may be close to the real ones, but you can see that they have errors in the height of the 5400 and 5401. It should be the same as other recliners. I also believe that when I measured them there height was closer to 42-42.5". Again I may not be 1005 accurate, but when I measured, the set of 3 straight was 103" and set of 3 curved was 112". So these are very close to 45090 dimensions. If you look at the specs of those you would see that the curved configuration of 5 seats is 183". The 12000s should be in the same ball park +/- a couple of inches.
Here is the link to the leather colors available for the 12000 http://rtheaters.com/berkline/images/Leather75065.jpg. Your burgundy is 78. I am getting 29 BLACK and 88 BROWN.
uwansumadis,
The chair/loveseat/chair configuration dimesnions:
13174 straight - 130" (in reality it is closer to 126")
13174 curved - 139" (in reality it is closer to 135")
The 12000s should very similar...
elmalloc 05-26-08, 10:19 AM why wuld you need to call someone for berkline seats?
I don't understand why, if they're so high quailty, they'd break down. Secondly, 4 closeout microfiber berklines sounds like its under 1K..don't know if you have a lot top worry at that price point.
oman321 05-26-08, 04:59 PM High quality, low quality, even mid quality. Stuff happens, things break and wear down or have problems in general. I've seen people on this forum mention difficulties with reclining mechanisms either upon delivery or later on. I have also seen people mention problems with the finished product when they took delivery. Any problems and as mentioned in the power buy you go through Roman to take care of it.
3 months down the line who is Karp gonna contact, he can attempt to contact Berkline directly but what assurance does he have, they didn't sell to him directly. Past issues that have been presented on the forum have been addressed and the posters have reported their pleasure with the way things were taken care of. That's all.
indygreg 05-27-08, 05:36 PM I AM IN!!!
just ordered 9 curved 12000s for my theater from roman. now i wait for a "slow boat from china"...

gianick 05-28-08, 02:38 PM Hi Roman
I'm willing to buy 13175 motorized Berlines, but as I'm not living in USA and in my country mains is 220volt/50hz, I'm curious whether they will work with step down transformers or not. What kind of electric motors are used? AC or DC?
gianick,
I am not sure whether they will or will not work.
The power recline uses 24V DC 3.3A transformers.
I hope this helps.
BTW, love your city. We had great time when stayed there a long time ago...
gianick 05-28-08, 04:16 PM gianick,

Thank you Roman
Yes, information you provided helped a lot. Actually this means that it will operate with step down transformer, and even if not, I can supply 24v DC directly to electric motor with a slight modding.
gianick,
BTW, love your city. We had great fun when stay there w long time ago...
P.S. I'm glad that you loved my city. Now it's even better.
rsh,
I have a unique question. The significant other does not what she wants (happens occasionally). Is there a model that would allow a curved row of 4 with love seat to be rearranged into two rows of 2. Knowing one or both may be curved if in a 2x2 arangement
I think it would take the outside chairs having only outisde arms and the inside chairs having the curved arms. Any set have that?
Bal,
No, the Berkline does not have the chair with the Left Facing Wedge armrest. And even if they did, the wedge armrests should never be on the outside - it will look really odd...
But if you want a flexible configuration you can go with the straight configuration chair/loveseat/chair that can be always rearranged into 2 separate loveseats.
IOIOOIOI or IOOI IOOI
Folks,
Check out the Berkline Power Buy Page (http://www.rtheaters.com/powerbuy/berkline.html) for additional incentive we are currently offering:
Limited time offer - Get Free Grill and Chill combo w/purchase of 3 or more Berkline recliners!!!
karlsch 05-31-08, 12:31 PM Can somebody point me to a place that explains Berkline's leather options - not just color samples, but also what the various leather materials actually are? Unless I am missing something, Berkline's Web site doesn't even have this information.
Karl,
You will probably not going to find this info anywhere. The leather price groups are based on the leather quality. The higher leather grade is the more money it cost. The group 1 is entry level leather, and as you go up in the leather groups the leather becomes nicer and softer. Some of the leathers are quite unique and only available in all leather since it is impossible to find a matching vinyl.
All leathers are quite durable. The only leather that may leave marks is 7038. Others are quite scratch resistible. Some of the leathers are plain color matte ones, and some have sheen to it. Leathers like 7061 and 7110 have marbleized pattern where you would see black waves in the color.
I hope this helps...
mike0311 05-31-08, 02:36 PM Roman,
I stopped by your warehouse on Thursday and took a look at what you had there. You had 3 different models. One was a 2 seat straight config. Another was the 3 seat curved and the other I think was straight but I wasn't a big fan of that model. Can you tell me which models I was looking at?
Thanks,
Mike
Mike,
I do not believe I have any straight configurations on display in the warehouse.
Here are what is there on display:
13217 - 3 seat curved configuration in BLACK
13174 - 2 seat curved configuration in BLACK
13175 - 2 seat curved configuration in TAUPE
dbbarron 06-01-08, 09:58 AM Roman:
A few questions:
Are any of the sale (regular sale or private collection) available with a double wide straight arm (e.g., with storage for remotes, controllers, etc.)? Prefer straight, but slight angle ok. Row of 3 and two, double wide unit between the interior seats (i.e., not on ends)
Are illuminated cup holders available on any of the sale or private collection seats? If so, at what cost?
Any idea what this discount will be to eliminate the buttkickers from the private collection seats.
dbbarron 06-01-08, 10:02 AM One more question:
Any of the sale or private collection available in a simple loveseat to enable me to create the following front row?
http://www.fortresseating.com/art/chairs/install13.jpg
mike0311 06-01-08, 11:55 AM Mike,

13217 - 3 seat curved configuration in BLACK
13174 - 2 seat curved configuration in BLACK
13175 - 2 seat curved configuration in TAUPE
Yes that sounds right. I guess they just looked straight since there were only two seats. I wasn't a big fan of the 13174's. I really liked the 13217's and the 13175's were nice as well. You have both of them coming in a straight config in July?
dbbarron,
I am not sure what you mean by regular sale, but anything that is made by Berkline in US can be custom ordered with the 024-08 game console that has two cup holders, storage and drawer. 024-08 can be separately ordered to complement chair/loveseat/chair configuration on the imported groups as well, but the leather will not perfectly match because each imported group has specific leather assigned to it, and it is not used on domestically made groups.
The Private Collection seating does not have this option. The Private Collection seating has a chair/loveseat/chair configuration that can be rearranged into two separate loveseats.
mike0311
The 13217 is a closeout and only 2, 3 and 4 seat CURVED configurations are available. No more 13217 chairs in any other configurations will be available ever...
13175 are going to be available in straight configurations of 3 and 4 seat by the end of July / beginning of August. Number of coming sets is limited, and these are pre-sold on first come first served basis.
dbbarron 06-01-08, 01:25 PM By "regular sale" I meant 13174 and 13175. Are these available in loveseat config?
Pls confirm that these are 'imported' and thus the 024-08 will not match exactly.
Also, then please advise on the smallest and least expensive model that can be ordered in the loveseat config. 088? 13175?
dbbarron,
The 13174 and 13175 can be in chair, loveseat, chair configuration, but they CANNOT be rearrange into two separate loveseats. There is no Left Facing Armrest recliner in these groups. You can only build the chair, loveseat, chair configuration by using the following:
3901 - IOI, 5401 - O, 5401 - O, 3901 - IOI
result is IOIOOIOI and cannot be rearranged into two separate loveseats.
All groups that do not start with 45 are imported ones.
The 024-08 game console is made in TN, so all the leathers that are available on domestically made groups will be available for this piece as well, but it cannot be ordered in any of the imported group leathers, so they will not perfectly match.
Anything made domestically can be configured pretty much any way you want. That is why these are custom ordered and are more expensive.
Any imported groups have limitations on leather, options, configurations, colors, and that is why these are quite cheaper.
I hope this helps.
JSwarce 06-03-08, 12:43 AM Just chiming in here to say that a purchase from Roman is well worth it! I got my Berkline's last year. I had a problem with a stuck recliner (motor died) and Roman got the part out to me in no time! It was an easy fix, and my "opening day" went off without a hitch. Excellent service before, during and after the purchase. You indeed get what you pay for...so don't be swayed by the cheapo close-outs at some furniture stores.
Roman, sorry to say that my federal incentive check went to a new deck, or I would be purchasing 3 more chairs for the theater! Maybe next Power Buy!
--John
Thanks John,
And regarding the extra seats - whenever you are ready... :)
dbbarron 06-04-08, 09:24 AM Roman - what is the width of 13175 in IOIOOIOI (chair, loveseat, chair) in both straight and wedge?
How do you rate the comfort of 13175? I am 6', 200lb; Rest of my family smaller.
dbbarron,
The IOIOOIOI configuration is 118"
The IOVOOVOI configuration is 124.5"
The chairs are quite comfortable and will be a very good fit for you.
I still like th 12000 group better, and if you can fit it I would recommend it over 13175.
The 12000 dimensions:
The IOIOOIOI configuration is 128"
The IOVOOVOI configuration is 138"
Johnsteph10 06-04-08, 10:58 AM I also want to compliment Roman - I bought 7 chairs from him earlier this year and they are everything he said they are and more.
His customer service and follow-up are top notch.
dbbarron 06-04-08, 11:03 AM Roman:
I may be able to fit the IOIOOIOI in the 12k (can fit either in the 13175).
Can you explain why you prefer the 12000? (did not see an explanation in this thread - pardon if already done).
dbbaron,
The 13175 are comfort rest recliners. This means that the footrest is a separate plate, and when you recline there is another plate comes up to close the gap between the seat and the footrest. The 12000s are chases. Many people and I personally prefer chase design where the footrest is a continuation of the seat. I also like the fact that the 12000s have a wider armrest allowing to easily share it with the person seating next to you (6” wide vs. 4.75” on the 13175). The first time I saw the 12000 group I was really impressed by slick European design and look of it. I felt like this chair should have been at $1200 price point :). The cushions on the 12000s were also a bit firmer.
I hope this helps
gianick 06-04-08, 01:16 PM Hi Roman
I tried hard to find some information on private collection recliners, but with no luck.
Can you give more info on those recliners?
Overall build quality, leather quality, how comfortable are they?
Where are they made?
Gianick,
The Private Collection Seating is only going to be available for distribution in US and Canada at this point. Sorry, but right now we will not be selling these overseas.
To answer your questions, though:
1. Overall build quality is comparable if not better than Berkline. The reclining mechanism is specifically designed to withstand the buttkicker shaking... They also have specifically designed isolators for this application.
2. Leather is quote nice. The Main Street uses the leather similar to group 3 Berkline leathers. the Santa-Fe is in its own league and uses top grain high quality all leather.
3. These recliners are extremely comfortable, and I was working closely with the manufacturer to ensure that proper dimensions and features are used on the chairs.
4. They are made in China.
5. The warranty is similar to Berkline ones, but the leather and electronics have 2 year warranty as apposed to 1 year with the Berkline.
Folks,
We had problems with our server yesterday. If any one you sent emails yesterday, please resend them. Sorry for the inconvenience.
whiskey > work 06-08-08, 06:22 PM interested in maybe 2 of these wireless buttkicker chairs, specifically the 3013but I have a few questions. Does it matter what receiver I use with the buttkickers? I have a lower end surround system for now (Pioneer HTS GS1) and these things have always kind of piqued my interest. With them being built right in I'm interested. Will 2 of these chairs function off the same receiver? Is the only real difference between the 3013 and the next level model the cupholder and / or the vinyl/leather combo? Oh and one final question, will these things really pound and can I use them in conjuncture with the subwoofer that I have already? Thanks a lot and satisfactory responses will likely lead to a sale
whiskey > work,
You will receive a wireless RF link with the chairs. Regardless of what received you have as long as it has LFE output, you can hook up the RF link to that output (you can also split the output using regular RCA Y-splitter, so one output will go to you sub and the other to the RF link). The RF link will send the LFE signal wirelessly to all the chairs. The buttkicker amplifiers with the wireless receivers are built into each chair, so this way they receive the signal and power the buttkickers.
The 3013 recliners is quite similar to the Berkline 45187, and it is very comfortable. It also has storage compartments in each armrest. The 3017 is higher end model. It uses ALL LEATHER and feels a bit different. The both extremely comfortable, but if compared I would give a slight preference to 3017s.
While I will not have the sets of 2 recliners, Derrek (username dhp78) was interested in only 2 recliners. I can split the 4 seat configuration, so each of you will get 2 recliners.
Please follow the power buy page and contact me via email with the quote request. Please do not forget to provide all requested info...

Thanks for the info. Considering..., will be in touch but sounds good. Also, checking to see if my receiver has LFE output. I'm looking at the manual and don't see it.
edit: i don't think these are going to work with the sound system I have currently. The receiver itself is the subwoofer. It's a strange unit. Taking a look at the non- buttkicker chairs
oman321 06-09-08, 09:35 AM whiskey, basically your looking to see if your subwoofer connects via an RCA connection.
whiskey > work,
Which receiver do yo have?
whiskey > work 06-09-08, 05:44 PM whiskey > work,
Which receiver do yo have?
I have a Pioneer HTS GS1. It's a cheapo system where the sub is essentially the reciever. It connects using a small snap thing. But I do have another Sony receiver with one "Woofer" connection. It's only accepts one RCA cable, not the red and white. To use a sub with it, I'd use a Y female to male where I'd plug the sub's red and whites into the one Woofer connection. Just unsure if that's the LFE connection because I see nothing else. I am interested, but not if it means I need to buy a new receiver. I'll try to snap a shot of the connection tomorrow and we'll see if it will work with the buttkickers
whiskey > work,
As long as the receiver has the subwoofer output, you can hook up the RF link to it. The Buttkickers will activate on the signal sent to the sub. Most of the receivers have the subwoofer output that is .1 discrete LFE channel, but they also allow the main/side/surround speakers to be set as small, so the low frequencies are directed to the sub.
IA_Hi_Fi_Guy 06-10-08, 03:25 PM Roman, what is the general consensus on the wireless buttkickers? Are they mostly as reliable and effective as the hard wired buttkickers? I have conduit ran through my riser so hardwiring is an option for me but it would be great to have everything come pre-installed and basically plug n play.
IA_Hi_Fi_Guy,
I have never had complaints about the wireless buttkickers. They work as well as wired ones. The only way you may have a problem if you have a large appliance like a refrigerator or microwave that can affect the wireless link. You have to remember that the wireless connection is for a low level signal that is being sent from the sub out to the buttkicker amplifier input. The connection between the amp and the buttkickers is still wired.
Plug and Play approach was the whole idea behind the Private Collection Home Theater seating, and that is what it is.
IA_Hi_Fi_Guy 06-11-08, 11:11 AM Sounds great Roman.
Another quick question on the Private Collection - do the seats and backs come separate like the berkines so that they can fit through doorways fairly easily?
IA_Hi_Fi_Guy,
Yes, they do.
tleavit 06-13-08, 06:26 PM Roman. Sorry I’m at work so I have to make this quick. Can you contact me about acquiring another one of the Screen innovations 133" motorize theater screens. I’m building a conference room for work and the boss wants me to install one of those (after seeing my theater). I'd like to pick up another from you. I would need the 6 bolts (not 2) like what we organized in my HT. Thanks
BTW, one of my Berklins still has a blown motor :(
Another had one of the cushion wires (hold up the butt section on the bottom) bust and clicks like hell when you more it up and down. This happened right after I bought them. It basically looks like it ripped out of the wood in the front. I’ve ignored it until now when the guy sitting in it durrning last nights nba game complained that he could feel that metal piece slap him in the rump.
Other then that, the Berkline are almost coming up on one year and have rave acclaim from the people who visit my theater.
Todd,
I will call you shortly. I was busy myself calibrating my room with Anthem D2 and ARC system.
You should have told me about the problems you are having with your chairs, so we could take care of them. I believe you are still under warranty, so let's talk off line...
Schloob1 06-14-08, 10:09 AM Roman or anyone else that would know, do you have to have at least one arm on a side of a recliner? It seems that way when I look at the different configurations that are mentioned on any website but wated to make sure. The reason I ask is that I want to have the recliner option but basically a length long enough where I would have recliners butt up against each other and be able to lay across them if I wanted to. So the configuration would look like a long couch.
Here for example is what I had in mind:
LF Arm Recliner/Armless Recliner/Armless Recliner/RF Arm Recliner
If my question does not make sense let me know:) Thanks
Schloob1,
No, you do not have to have an armrest on each recliner unless this is the end piece. There is armless recliner (some models even have an armless loveseat) that can be put in between other recliners. For example you can build a 3 or 4 seat couch:
IO O OI ---> IOOOI
IO O O OI ---> IOOOOI
or
IO OO OI ----> IOOOOI
So Roman, what do you think of the ARC system?
I have a D2 and ARC as well.
I haven't downloaded the latest version yet.
Sorry for the OT.
I liked it a lot. It really added a lot of detail that I have not heard before. It also created a better soundstage. All my manual settings that I did using RS sound meter were way off. The crossover settings were also different from what I have had.
Again - more detail, better soundstage, tighter bass. The only thing I had to do was add about 3 db for the LFE channel. To my taste ARC did not set enough bass.
porsche951 06-14-08, 10:07 PM I received a straight row of 3 of the 13175 in dark brown yesterday from Roman, and unpacked and set them up this afternoon. The chairs arrived undamaged, and I was pleasantly surprized with the quality of the leather. The electric recline is smooth and quiet and my wife and I are very pleased with the chairs. I will post pics when I have time.I needed to fit three chairs in a 100" space and the 13175's were a good choice.
raylock 06-15-08, 05:36 PM We also received four curved 13175 chairs this week. They are very comfortable and our first impressions have been very good. Thanks, Roman for your help.
Ray
dododge 06-16-08, 09:18 AM IO O OI ---> IOOOI
FWIW, this is the setup I have (with 45003 chairs) and it does allow me to lay across them like a couch, which is exactly why I chose this configuration.
Of note: the recline buttons for the outer chairs are on the inside of the armrests, so there's a risk of hitting them with your feet by accident when you stretch out. I moved the chairs an extra inch or two apart to make the "couch" a little bit longer than I am tall, and that eliminated the problem. Obviously if you have room for four seats it wouldn't even come up -- or you can just unplug the chairs. The other thing is that the seat cushions are slightly tilted backward even at rest; they aren't level with the floor like they'd be on a regular couch. So it's kind of like a couch that wants you to roll deeper into it.
That said, I've only had them a few months and I've already fallen asleep lying across them more times that I can remember. It's comfortable both as chairs and as a couch.
Schloob1 06-16-08, 10:14 AM Thanks Roman, that's exactly what I needed to know. dododge, anychance you got a pic or 2 of your setup?
dododge 06-16-08, 10:51 AM dododge, anychance you got a pic or 2 of your setup?
Nope. I keep meaning to take a few but the rest of the room is such a mess I never seem to get around to it. Maybe in a few days if I get things more in order.
tleavit 06-16-08, 11:54 AM I usually praise Roman in his threads since I bought my 7 Berkline’s and theater screen from him last year. I don’t know him, I think he’s on the East coast but I must say that if you are seriously thinking about buying from him. Do it. His prices are amazing and his customer service is even better. I knew that he would get back with me on my post, in fact her called me personally within minutes. I like him so much I’m ordering a second HT screen from him and we are already working on fixing some of the minor problems I've had (before war is up) on my Berklin. Over the past year, the Berkline’s I bought from him get universal acclaimed from people who come over to watch big sporting events. The issues I had presented themselves early and I’ve just been too lazy to deal with them (can be fixed easily under warrantee which he honors completely). Even a year later, Roman jumps at the chance to help out. You will find his customer service excellent.
tabasc07 06-17-08, 12:29 AM I really tried to stay away from this, but I keep looking and I don't think I can pass up a deal like this. Roman, expect a call from me haha.
Vizcaya 06-17-08, 08:26 PM I had been looking for some theater seats for some time. I am glad I came across this deal. I am going all out, and getting 3 of the Private Collection chairs in the curved config. I am looking foreward to getting these, and will post pics when they arrive. I can also say, Roman has been great to deal with.
Folks,
Check out the Berkline Power Buy Page (http://www.rtheaters.com/powerbuy/berkline.html) for additional incentive we are currently offering:
Limited time offer - Scratch And Save up to $500 with purchase of 3 or more Berkline recliners!!!
dbbarron 06-19-08, 02:52 PM Roman:
How long is this offer available?
On a 12000 IOVOOVOI, you had previously stated 138" total width (assume at the back corners) - what is the width across the front?
Dbbarron,
The Sratch and Save promo is valid until the end of this month when the Power Buy is over.
The 12000 front width for the IOVOOVOI configuration is 128"
Folks,
I just wanted to remind you that this is the last week of the Power Buy and the Scratch And Save promo. The Power Buy ends on June 30th.
After emailing Roman a couple times with questions, I spoke to him today and am ordering two of the PCS 3017 Santa Fe models. Sweet looking and a lot of bang for the buck.
Now, the hard part -- waiting until August....
oman321 06-24-08, 10:59 AM Hey I want a scratch card too...:(
Early bird doesn't always get the worm.
shaka999 06-25-08, 12:40 PM Hey Roman,
No way I'm going to be able to make this power buy but I'm planning on the next one (there is a next one isn't there :) )
I had a question though. When using a 4 (or 3) chair curved row, whats the ideal distance to the TV? Each of the chairs face off at an angle and it seems where the centerlines all converge on the center of the TV you would have an ideal viewing distance.
I'm probably over analyzing this , but it seems if your screen is much beyond the ideal viewing you'd be better with a straight configuration. If its closer then the curved would be better.
Thanks!

You answered your own question :)
shaka999 06-25-08, 02:58 PM Did I answer my own question by saying I was over analyzing or ???
I could probably to the trig but I guess the question is how far out that ideal viewing spot is. I'm probably not stating this very well....
shaka999,
The curved configuration functionally makes sense in wider rooms with 5-6 seat configurations. Then the outside chairs will be closer to the screen to compensate for a wide configuration. With three seat configuration you are choosing it based on looks - curved vs. straight.
Folks,
3 more days and the power buy is over. Place your orders while you still can.
We will do Scratch and Save and the Power Buy Prize drawings next week.
I'm ordered 4 45003's last week, can't wait for them to arrive! Thanks for answering all of my questions, Roman!
kibe29,
You are welcome :)
So... when's the drawing, Roman?
Ormazd,
Please be a bit patient. I had very busy day yesterday. I will do PB drawing and Scratch and Save cards within next couple of days.
I will announce the winners in a separate thread - stay tuned :)
Artie Lange 07-02-08, 06:34 AM Here is a direct link (http://www.rtheaters.com/powerbuy/berkline.html) to the official Berkline Seating page.
Why doesn't Berkline offer the Buttkicker option on any of those sale units?
Artie,
Those recliners are made overseas. My guess would be that the Berkline does not have an installation procedure in place in there. I spoke to them about adding the buttkicker to the imported groups, and they told me that they would look into it. But honestly they are known to be quite slow regarding any changes that they may have to do...
Folks,
The Prize drawings were done. I will announce the winners in a separate thread as soon as I get prize acceptance confirmation from each winner.
oman321 08-13-08, 01:41 PM Hi Roman,
I know you had an update on the other thread that was lost due to the server issues. Just wondering if there are any other updates. I think you mentioned that the chairs were slated to arrive to the warehouse on the 18th.
Orlando,
You chairs should be shipped in September - slight delay due to Olympic Games in China, sorry about that. All the orders which will be shipped from our warehouse will be going out next week. We just received the containers.
oman321 08-13-08, 03:19 PM :( You had me all excited and raring to go. Oh well, it does give me more time to get ready for em;). No biggie. Any idea (approx.) when in September.
Should ship first week of September...
oman321 08-13-08, 04:14 PM Fantastic, thanks.
Orlando,
I actually have even better news - your chairs will ship next week :)
Hi Roman,
Hey, is the delivery company going to contact me a day or so in advance so that i can be sure to be home or have someone home to accept delivery? Thanks..
indygreg 08-16-08, 12:07 AM fantastic. any chance mine will happen next week also? we have a party next weekend.
greg
dkroom,
The trucking compay will call you to schedule a delivery after they bring the chairs to a local terminal.
Greg,
Yes, it should be picked up from our wareouse by a trucking company next week.
Thanks Greg...Im so excited!
oman321 08-16-08, 10:42 AM Wow, thanks for the update Roman.
Hi Roman.
I guess my chairs will be shipping next week as well?
Thanks
Folks,
All the Berkline orders will ship out next week.
The Private Collection Seating should be in the warehouse in September.
We will ship them out as soon as we get them.
Thanks Roman.
At least for me, it's hard to fight the anticipation.
I've been looking forward to these chairs for a long, long time.:)
indygreg 08-16-08, 07:15 PM roman - i was thinking you said something about you delivering it "with your own people" since i wanted white glove delivery into the basement. i hope that does not slow anything down.
greg
Roman, any more power buys coming on Berkline seating? I'm going to start my home theater remodel job soon after my son's wedding first weekend of September. I would like to have it done by mid-November, in time for football playoffs, bowl games, etc. Also, more movie watching during Ohio winter months. Also, I talked to you a couple of years ago about screens and you brought up Screen Innovations. Is this still considered a good screen? I can never find review or info on these boards, only for the Black Diamond, but I'm talking about their Performance of Reference fixed 1.3 gain.
Greg,
My people only deliver within 150 miles radius from NJ, 08807. For all other deliveries we use various trucking companies. We always try to pick the one that provides best service and is less expensive.
fas,
Please contact me offline. I will answer all your questions.
Sinbad75 08-18-08, 10:09 AM Roman - You originally told me to expect a 29 August ship date. Based on all the above posts, can I expect my 45003s a little earlier?
Regards, Jack
Jack,
While I cannot guaranty it, everything is possible :). I will email you your tracking info next day after the chairs ship, just be a little bit patient.
rahimlee54 08-18-08, 05:59 PM I got my 13174s today and they are fantastic. Everything arrived extreme fast, and in good shape. The build quality seems pretty good and the price was just right for me and the boss.
Thanks alot Roman
Rahimlee54
union1411 08-19-08, 10:30 AM my 12000s are being delivered tomorrow. almost a week before i expected them. awesome service, especially in light of how annoying of a customer i am :)
C'mon guys! How are you liking the new chairs?
Especially those who ordered the 12000 series.
Mine are at the local warehouse, hopefully to be delivered tomorrow.
oman321 08-27-08, 12:09 PM Milt99, I got the 13175's I have one chair out currently as I am not ready to set them all up. I gotta say that I am extremely pleased with the looks of the chair and it is super comfortable. The Mrs. sat in it and when she started to hit the power recline it brought a smile to her face (and she has been on me in a bad way about buying these chairs). She is also extremely pleased with how comfy they are.
I had a buddy over last night who was also checking out the chair and he said how comfortable the chair was. He commented that often you will see a HT chair such as these and while they appear to be comfy they are actually quite stiff once you sit in them. He loved the design of the chair also.
Gotta say this though I did have a cosmetic issue which is obviously beyond Roman's control. However, Roman immediately took charge and is handling it for me, the next morning a resolution was in place. Berkline has been in touch with me also so I know it is being properly addressed.
Also I was worried about how glossy the chairs appeared in the picture of the 13175's but they are really a matte black in person. Can't wait to get my carpet in :D
My chairs finally arrived. I ordered (5) 12000's in the brown leather.
Unfortunately, I have only had time to unbox one. I am very pleased with both the look and comfort of the chair. It actually looks a little nicer than I thought it would.
It will probably be Monday until I can put everything together. Tonight is our big city / county football game, and we're leaving tomorrow morning at 6am for our 14 year old son's out of town soccer tournament.
The price / value of this purchase still rates very high in my book!
I got my 4 12000 chairs yesterday and love'em.
Nice firm comfortable support, not too cushy.
I know the electric vs. manual question still comes up but I can't see not buying electric recline, it makes all the difference.
oman321 08-29-08, 07:47 PM I didn't think electric recline would have been a major thing for me, but it rules!!!Fortunately, the price on the chairs made it affordable. It's awesome to be able to stop at any postion I want.
indygreg 08-30-08, 10:00 AM i got my nine 12000's and they are GREAT. white glove service from roman made everything easy. unboxed, carried to the basement, assembled and best of all they haul away a truckload of cardboard.

Wow Greg, that's a nice arrangement and those seats are lookin good!

White glove here too.
Gotta love the white glove, worth every penny especially in a basement theater.
Any update on the Private Collection chairs, Roman?
Ormazd,
The Private Collection Seating almost completed production. Unfortunately the Olympic Games in China caused delay in production and shipment. The manufacturer tries its best to have them in the warehouse by the end of September.
Sinbad75 09-05-08, 02:17 PM Wanted to share my experiences dealing with Roman at Ultimate Home Entertainment. In two words, THE BEST! I ordered seven 4503 recliners, consisting of three chairs in curved configuration (rear row) and love seat bookended by two recliners in curved configuration (front row). Roman was the most patient and professional gentleman I have ever dealt with in purchasing major items. He answers questions immediately, with crystal clarity and infinite product knowledge. My order arrived about a week early, and was near perfection. One minor item was my cup holders. I ordered black aluminum, and the ones that arrived were silver aluminum. Roman had the correct ones on their way within hours of my informing him. One other minor item was a malfunctioning power recliner. Roman quickly sent troubleshooting tips, and stood ready to immediately ship whatever part I needed to correct. Issue was related to a partially severed wire from the activation switch to the transformer. Was able to splice and seal, and they are now working perfectly. All in all the best purchasing experience we have ever had. Thanks again Roman, you are a treasure within the home theater community!
Cheers! Jack
rahimlee54 09-06-08, 04:26 AM Anyone have any insight on how to condition, repair, and care for the chairs? I havent come across anything that is complete in my searching.
Thanks
Rahimlee54
I received my seven 12000s the other day and though I only opened three of them, I am very pleased. They are firm yet very comfortable, the mechanism works flawlessly, the overall look and quality for what I paid is outstanding! Thanks and props to Roman
StevenC56 09-08-08, 06:34 PM Are these a new model? I don't see any model numbers that high on the Berkline website.

What pieces are making up your front row?
Roman, out of all the chairs (Berkline and Private Collection) would you NOT recommend any of them for someone 6ft tall or shorter due to them blocking the back surround sound?
Also my family almost always ends up putting a pillow behind their head when reclined in my 090's. Do you have a preference to any of the built in head rest models?
Thanks
hardax,
You want to stick with the chairs that are not taller than roughly 42". The Berkline has some models that are 44.5", and depending on your room configuration and surround sound speakers location the backs of these recliners may block your surround sound. Here is the list:
45002, 45012, 45014, 45025, 45091, 45094, 45099, 45187 All these are 44.5" high back recliners.
Regarding head support, I would recommend the following:
Domestic models: 45003, 45004 (if you have limited width), 45008, 45016
Imported models: 12000, 13175
I hope this helps.

What is the difference in materials, constuction, and price between domestic and imported models?
Here are the diferences:
Domestic Models:
1. wide selection of covers (4 fabric and 4 leather groups - can be in all leather or leather/vinyl combo).
2. custom configurations
3. additional options - factory installed buttkickers, lighted cup holders cup holder inserts.
4. takes 4-6 weeks for any custom order.
Imported models:
1. only one fabric and one leather w/limited colors for each imported group.
2. limited comfigurations/covers based on what a stocking dealer deside to purchase.
3. either in stock or you have to wait until next shipment. custom orders will take a long time.
Construction and quality is similar.
I hope this helps.
sshams95 09-13-08, 01:49 PM I'm trying to decide between the 13174 and 13175. I'm 5'10" and surround speakers are mounted high, so not surround blocking issue. My main concern is getting good head/neck support and lumbar/back support.
Any idea which one would be better?
If head support is most important, then the 13175 is a better choice - it will have better head support especially in the reclining position. The 13174 is the chase design, though, and the 13175 is not. It is a comfort rest.
Any status updates on the Private Collection, Roman?
Ormazd,
The sample sets were shipped last week, and the containers with the production chairs are shipping this week. I will notify everyone via email as soon as I have an ETA.
Again, I apologize for the delay.
bee2427 10-23-08, 12:25 AM hey roman, someone recently attached a picture that they took from finesse furniture and compared it to the private collection santa fe. I curious if the picture is accurate.
From another picture he has the seat reclined, I see that the part of the footrest reclines under the seat cushion so that the cushion is a little higher (uneven) than the foot rest. Would you consider this style more or less comfortable?
bee2427,
The recliners on the picture do look like the Private Collection Santa Fe. Remember, most of the manufacturers "steal" :) designs one from another. All of them Lane, Lazy Boy, Berkline, Palliser, etc... They all do it. We tweaked the sizes a bit to make sure that it is comfortable and fits HT needs for average sized folks.
Regarding the comfort: all I can say is that the Santa Fe is extremely comfortable and nice looking recliner. I loved it when I had a chance to seat in it.

How are these for head support? The problem I have is I have a limited area to fit the seats AND I'm 6' 5", 240lbs. Many of my family are also tall, and I have a few friends who are on the large side. My wife is petite (5'6", 112lbs when not pregnant, lol) so finding something that will accomodate all of our needs is turning out to be a daunting task. This combined with the fact that we are going to have to order anything we buy, we are very concerned about spending several grand without having lots of information to go on.
I am hoping to find time this week to call you w/my wife to discuss seating options for our HT. I hope you have longer hours of availability. :D
I hope you have longer hours of availability.
Fortunately for you and unfortunately for me I do :)
ramsi_2000 11-09-08, 08:58 PM Hi Roman,
Nice job to you and your firm. It is not easy to impress so many people on the forum especially when people have different needs. Also, I'm impressed the way you interact and work with them to provide an ultimate HT experience. Not many people will have such kind customer service.
Being a member on this forum, I would like to experience the same service from you and your firm. My HT is in process and may take another 8-10 weeks to complete. Let me know how soon can I start discussing the needs with you and how. Here is the link (http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=1079953&highlight=)to my post.

will1383 11-09-08, 09:02 PM I'd call him imediately. I have, and purchased my HT seating through him. :D
ramsi_2000,
My advice is to plan ahead and decide on how many seats you would need and whether you are going to have 2 rows or just one ASAP. This is one of the very important aspects that should be considered in the early planning stage.
ramsi_2000 11-10-08, 01:04 PM Thanks Roman for your reply. At this time, I am considering just one row of seats (4) for my HT. Of course, as shown in the design, I am planning to put a bar area (with 4 comfy chairs) right behind the seating area.
Can you provide some measurements on your 3, 4 and 7 seaters?
ramsi_2000,
I sugest you follow the Power Buy thread (http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=1081574) to the PB page (http://www.rtheaters.com/powerbuy/berkline.html)and contact me off line...

You'd better start now. I'm still waiting for chairs I ordered in June that were supposed to be delivered in August.
jagmonster 11-12-08, 08:45 AM You'd better start now. I'm still waiting for chairs I ordered in June that were supposed to be delivered in August.
I feel your pain, also waiting since june for my PCS chairs. My HT has been done for 2 months now waiting for seating. The lawn furniture filling in is getting old. My wife has been twisting my nuts asking "when are we getting those damn chairs" like every other day. Starting to think I may not live long enough to enjoy the chairs when every they arrive. Sorry Roman I know you're trying.
Folks,
I apologize for such a delay, but we are almost there. The latest status is that the amplifiers will be tentatively ready and air shipped on 11/20/08. The manufacturer will install and test them right after that. The shipping to you will be Thanksgiving time frame.
I am considering purchasing some 12000's in a curved configuration. I was wondering if anyone had any trouble getting these to fit through their doorways. My doorway is 36" wide and I see that a curved 12000 is 43" wide in the diagram.
Should be no problem whatsoever. The chairs come with the backs off. You can always tilt them to the side (the armrests height is no more than 25") and bring the chairs into even 28" openings.
Jeff Smith 11-13-08, 02:55 PM Has anyone actually purchased the Private 3013 "Main street"? I'm interested but wanted feedback.
Jeff,
Many did, but no one has received them yet.
We will start shipping the chairs around Thanksgiving time.
Jeff Smith 11-13-08, 03:25 PM Would anyone who sat in these chairs chime in if you read this, please?
Jeff,
I am afraid you will not get an answer - no one has these chairs yet - they are new to the market. I did sit in them and I can give you my feedback, but I guess it is not sufficient enough, and I can appreciate that...
aquafire 11-13-08, 05:24 PM Wow those 12000's look amazing.
Could I do 2- sets of 2? With 3 armrests total? What would be the total left to right width?

Jeff Smith 11-13-08, 06:35 PM Not so much your word, just looking for others opinions too. You came highly recommended by Jason at AVS. I trust you, I just don't know what your particular ass likes in a chair. I think I really want these.

Sure my room, not done yet though.

aquafire 11-13-08, 07:03 PM WOW!!!!!!!!!!!
How are they? I'm sure awesome...Are they comfortable? Have you ever owned other chairs?
Anyone try both the 12000 and 13175? Opinions?
thanks!
oman321 11-13-08, 08:26 PM They are extremely comfortable. By looking at them you think that the cushion is going to be stiff, but when you sit, it feels great. The back supports you while at the same time hugging you. I haven't owned other HT seats but I did get to try some out at Jordan's Furniture, a local big furniture store around my parts. Their chairs were pricier and IMO less comfortable. My friends and family all love the chairs and have commented how comfy they.
Also the small footprint is great but at the same time the chair is very spacious. The seat has good width, the high back has good head support. I'm 5'11" and when I first recline my feet are slightly off the footrest but if I reposition myself it offers good support.

Thanks for your impressions. How do you like the footrest? Is the comfort rest style it uses supportive enough? Just from pictures I am concerned that it will feel like my legs are not supported, like they are suspended over an open area compared to a chaise style footrest.
Also what are your impressions of the power recline mechanism?
Lastly is the black leather more of a shiny surface or is it more of a matte appearance? It is hard to tell in the photos, your seats look a touch shiny, Jamis' seats look more matte.
Thanks again.
docprego 11-13-08, 11:51 PM Has anyone purchased these in brown or know of any pics that show them with the brown #87 that is available in this powerbuy? I have found a pic of these in brown but it appears to be a different brown then the #87 that is being offered here.
Thanks.
I only have one set of the 13175 in BROWN 87 left, and it is chair/loveseat/chair straight configuration. Another set of 3 straight is incomplete at this point, and I will have the last piece for this configuration in the end of January.

Footrest is fine, I understand your concern about the comfort rest but it really hasn't been an issue. I had that thought way in the back of my mind from others here talking about, like I said though it hasn't really been an issue since I got the chairs and they support your legs just fine.
Power recline is a great feature, initially I didn't believe I was going to be able to afford chairs with power recline and had already convinced myself of it. With Roman's power buys it became an affordable option. It's awesome to be able and stop at any position you like or feel comfortable in vs. the manual which I believe only have 3 points of positioning.
Jamis did a better job of capturing the seats true appearance which is more of a matte finish. I'm not sure if he used flash or not, but I did and the shine your seeing is more of the flash's reflection. I was also quite pleased in the finish when I got my chairs. I was apprehensive because the picture on Roman's site makes the chairs appear very shiny when in fact they are not.

I'm a big guy and my family is pretty tall, so I opted to order the 12003 because they are 44" tall and should provide ample support for what I am looking for.
I'm not going to get them for a while, so I'll have to let you know once I get them, but the price was definitely right, and Roman is easy to deal with - although he sometimes talks quite fast. :D
Sorry Dan,

Excellent, thanks for that information. I am totally sold on power recline but what I meant was how is the quality of the power recline mechanism? Is it smooth, quiet, and strong?
How do you like the seating area width, I mean is it comfortably wide enough? I can't seem to find this measurement online, can someone measure their 13175 across the seating surface from left armrest to right and let me know how many inches wide it is?
Thank you.

Yes, yes, and yes.

The seat is 24 3/4" wide: www.rtheaters.com/berkline/images/13175.pdf
oman321 11-14-08, 11:07 PM I agree with Roman's response on the power recline.
As far as width comfort it is great. If I sit to one side, I have about 4-5" of space from the other armrest. Seat width was a nice factor on the 13175's over the 088's along with the taller backs.
Folks,
I apologize for such a delay, but we are almost there. The latest status is that the amplifiers will be tentatively ready and air shipped on 11/20/08. The manufacturer will install and test them right after that. The shipping to you will be Thanksgiving time frame.
Hoping for some good news, Roman.
Folks,
This is for everyone who is waiting for the Private Collection Seating.
The chairs are in the warehouse and have been sitting there for a couple of weeks already. I have also received the sample recliners, and they are on the floor at the Bridgewater, NJ warehouse, so whoever wants to come and test drive them - welcome.
The problem is with the amplifiers - they are still not shipped. I have had a long conversation with the manufacturer who explained to me that they were dependent on the Chinese suppliers and waiting for them to finish the production. I know I said that the amps should be shipped on 11/20th, but they missed this date. I was told that it should be 12/04/08 now.
I am as frustrated as many of you, and I wish I could speed the process somehow, but unfortunately this is out of my control.
I know it has been a long wait, and I know that many of you cannot wait to get their recliners. I hate to sound like a parrot, but we are almost there.
I can tell you one thing – the recliners are very nice. The build quality is great, and they are very comfortable.
Well, I just got off the phone with Roman and I can echo what's been said here before--knowledgeable, friendly and helpful, and great prices. I shopped around everywhere else and gave Roman the last shot, and as I expected he gave me the best deal and left me feeling good about it!
bee2427 12-05-08, 07:27 PM Roman any update yet on the amp shipment?
bee2427,
I notified everyone a couple of days ago that the amps were in the air, and it might take 6-8 days for them to arrive into the warehouse depending on customs clearing and shipping logistics. Right now all the chairs are being equipped with the rest of the gear - buttkickers, wireless link and RC. When amplifiers arrive they will be mounted to the chairs and we will start shipping them out. I hope this will happen by the end of next week.
Just an update:
The amplifiers were delivered to the warehouse on Tuesday. They are being installed as we speak. The shipments are being registered with the freight companies.
I will email everyone in person their tracking info as soon as I have it.
I appreciate everyone being so patient.
Has anyone gotten their tracking info yet?

jagmonster 12-16-08, 09:15 AM We would have gotten ours today but drove to the freight depot and picked up two boxes a trip in the SUV (just barely fit).
IA_Hi_Fi_Guy 12-16-08, 10:35 AM Nice! And shiny too! How's the comfort? How's the firmness of the seat cushions?
Please let us know what issues you run into concerning the Wireless Buttkickers.
I've got 4 coming very soon hopefully!
Folks,
I just wanted to let you know that while the wireless connection should work just fine, there is also "wired" option available. You can run the RCA subwoofer cable to one of the chairs and plug it into the input of the amplifier. The amps have "IN" and "OUT", so you can daisy chain the amplifiers.
All this should give you the most flexibility in your set up.
bee2427 12-16-08, 01:25 PM hey jagmonster thanks for the pics. They look great and your cat looks very comfortable. I was just curious as to the size of the boxes if you knew because I was also thinking planning on picking them up with an SUV. Did you take them out of the box to fit them or did the two boxes fit by themselves?
ramesh_cm79 12-16-08, 04:25 PM I just wanted to let everyone know that I recently purchased 7 Berkline 12000 seats from Roman and I am extremely happy with the seats. Roman was very helpful in answering all my questions and provided great service... Thanks Roman...

The boxes if I remember were like 30h 38d 33w give or take a inch and about 140lbs. Already took the mountain of cardboard to the recycle center so can't check. Was in a Toyota LC with the tailgate down. The cat has his own chair and blanket with the understanding "NO HOLES ALLOWED". I'm still screwing with the wireless BK to get it working right, may be next weekend's project. The seats are on the firm side which works for us since my wife has back pain with anything too soft.

That's good to know Roman. I'm hoping the wireless works well but I did run conduit through my riser when I was planning on wired buttkickers so I do have the option to go the "wired" route. So, to go the "wired" route one would just need to buy some additional RCA cables, correct?
As long as you ran the RCA interconnect to the riser, all you need is about 6' rca interconnects to daisy chain the amplifiers.
jagmonster 12-18-08, 11:55 AM A few more pics of the Santa Fe chairs in some recline positions. In a full recline position you are going to need 17 inches of space between the chair and the wall. To have your feet straight out the back will recline about 10 inches,in a full recline the chair is close to flat, all very comfortable.
jagmonster 12-18-08, 11:58 AM sorry here are the pics
bscoggins4 12-18-08, 02:35 PM All Berkline and Private Collection seating recliners are wallaway - only require 4-6 inches behind the chair to allow for full recline.
Roman,
Jagmonster says above that it requires much more than 4-6 inches for full recline, the other quote is from on the first page of this thread.
Which is correct?
bee2427 12-18-08, 03:29 PM sorry here are the pics
wow the chairs really look great with the light shinning on it. The footrest really is elevated when the chair is fully reclined but looks comfortable. I tried to look up the specs on your toyota LC suv trunk space to compare it to my QX4, do you know the specs? I'm guessing its around the measurements you gave me 30 by 33 by 38 because you said they just fit.
Mine are being shipped as we speak , cant wait. Also many thanks to Roman who really went above and beyond to provide great service. He did everything he could to get me the best shipping rate possible and answered all my questions. He really shows a great passion for his work.
Benjy,
Originally I was told by the manufacturer that the Private Collection seating will only require 4-6 inches. But they had to accommodate for the buttkicker amplifier and went with a different reclining mechanism, which is not a wallaway one. When I measured (about two weeks ago) the fully reclined chair it required 14-15" behind. The good thing is that in fully reclined position it actually takes less space then the Berkline recliners, so it should not be a big concern. The front row can be placed up against the platform. The reclining part (back of the chair) will not interfere with the riser, and since the back row recliners do not move forward like Berkline ones do, you need the same if not less riser depth. Unless you have a very strict requirement for wallaway recliner this should not be an issue. You do not really want to put the chair up against the wall anyway. If you do, the surround sound for that row would not be great.
streetdaddy 12-19-08, 10:49 PM Hey guys,
I just got my chairs today. I must say i am pleasantly surprised with the quality of the chairs. I bought them sight unseen following Roman's suggestion.
The leather is of very high quality and an attractive brown color. Kinda like a football if you will.
I only had a few minutes to set up the buttkickers with the wife wanting to start the movie. I don't think i have it set up right as the vibrations are not correlating with the bass tracks. I am using the wireless. I will call buttkicker on Monday to get set up help.
Looks good - now you need to replace your back row seating :)
streetdaddy 12-20-08, 12:26 PM Roman,
I know! Any chance i could make a 3 chair "couch" or something? I really don't want another row of seats but would like a couch to lay down with the dogs occasionally!
Definitelly, but the next shipment will be in March / April, and I will be getting limited number of armless pieces that will allow you to do a couch set. Contact me off line...

My buttkickers are doing the same thing, I think they have a mind of their own. I will be calling also but I went ahead and ordered some cables in case I need to go the wired route, which is not a problem for me. The brown ones look very nice too.
Kale and Mike,
You will be getting a call from the Guitammer Company to help to resolve any issues you may have with the buttkicker gear.
Happy Holidays everyone!
streetdaddy 12-21-08, 09:02 AM Roman and Mike,
I ran a long wire from my processor to my chairs. It worked fine, so must be something in the transmitter/receiver end of things. Ps.. if you want a long rca cable on the cheap, rat shack has connectors for $4 that turn any leftover cable tv wire you into a rca cable. Worked fine.
Also, my wife has given the go ahead for the back row of seats so i will be contacting you soon to get in om the April shipment.
One of my buttkickers has a mind of it's own -- random loud buzzing and shaking completely separate from the LFE.
Gary,
Contact the Guitammer Company at 1.888.676.2828 regarding any issues with the buttkicker gear. They are really good folks and will help to diagnose and fix the problem.
NYURDRMS 12-25-08, 08:18 PM Has anybody been able to get the wireless BK setup properly for the Private? I am getting a bit worried about this, as the way my room is setup, it is going to be very difficult to run additional wires now, I am really hoping the wireless is going to work.
My chairs should be delivered next week sometime.

In my case I was able to come close but couldn't quite get all four chairs working together as a team. Marvin with Guitammer was a great help but I decided to wire them up since I had a channel to pull wire already. I can say that all is well with a wire connection.

My wireless works quite well. My only issue is some random extraneous noise and thumping. I think it's somehow related to interference with the reclining mechanism. Anyone else experienced that?
bee2427 12-26-08, 11:24 AM Ormazd I have the same problem. Im pretty sure the noise is the wood rattling and it seems like it echos undo the chair. I dont know what is causing the random thumping. Im probably going to connect the RCA wire like most of the others here have
bee2427 12-29-08, 12:49 PM Ormazd I emailed the buttkicker company and recieved this. I'm going to be calling them to troubleshoot.
"There could be a couple things going on.
First, a reception issue. If the Send unit is talking well with the Receive units in the chairs, there should be a clear correlation of the movie action and shake in the seats - but this also depends on the speaker settings in your surround receiver. Are the speakers set for Large or Small in your receiver?
Second, there could be outside interference (in or out of your home) causing the 'bumps when there should be no bumps'."

I hope there was more to their note. It's kind of obvious that if things are working properly you'll get the expected results. If not, there is a problem.
Duh....

Sounds like they don't have a clue. Please let us know how the troubleshooting goes. I've turned my Buttkickers off for now.
bee2427 12-30-08, 02:15 PM the rest of the email just said to call him personally to troubleshoot. I actually ordered the wires to connect it already, so I'm not going to call, but I would if I were you guys. He seems like he knows what he's doing.
MLC2008 01-02-09, 10:07 AM Hi everyone. This is Marvin, head engineer for The Guitammer Company (ButtKicker).
I have been helping several folks with their various wireless issues, was made aware of the conversation here, and thought I would add some of my thoughts to the thread to help if possible.
Just so we don't forget - there are many others outside of this forum that use the BK-Link wireless technology quite successfully. ..in fact we've sold tens of thousands of these same BK-Links for use with ButtKicker equipped Berkline home theater seating. Yes, occasionally there are locations (homes and furniture store showrooms) where the wireless system could not work, but it has been a very small percentage of locations.
I'm sure you're all aware that wireless technologies, while improving all the time, are great conveniences, but without exception susceptable to outside interference and interaction - some more than others, some places more than others, around some equipment more than others, etc.
Being fully aware of the need for wireless signal flow in HT in particular, The Guitammer Company has endevored to supply an affordable wireless solution for our customers. But knowing that unforseen and uncontrolable circumstances in each and every location can defeat the use of wireless - whatever technology used - we also included for the first time an audio "loop through" output on the amplifier to easier facilitate hardwiring. And we've also provided a remote control for the ButtKicker system for the first time as well.
Wireless technologies advance just like everything else. What was acceptable yesterday with its shortcomings, may be simply less than acceptable tomorrow.
Arguably, there is no wireless technology, some of which we use everyday, that is not compromised somewhere, somehow.. I am not asking, nor do I want you to compromise your HT experience, which is why the alternate hardwire solution was included. While the BK-Link has worked well in many applications, and there have been few failures with the product itself, there has been some locations where it was rendered ineffectual by outside interference.
We are always working to make your setup of the ButtKicker product as painless as possible (if not totally painless) and I believe most customers will agree that we at The Guitammer Company go well beyond what many other manufacturers will go to help you with any and all aspects of our products.
davew396 01-02-09, 02:13 PM I ordered a curved set of three chairs of the Main Street model from the Private Collection offering. I had looked online (and in stores) for the best deal and quality in Theater Seating for months before I actually decided to order from "4seating.com". After missing several ship dates and having to haggle with their customer service, I cancelled that order. It took numerous threats and finally my credit card company was able to get my credit back from that scam outfit! Needless to say, making a several thousand dollar purchase from a stranger, over the WEB was not high on my list of "Things that I Want to Do". However, I was resigned to the fact that practically the only way to purchase Theater Seating, is over the WEB. I don't know why it had never occurred to me to search the AV Forum for a seller, but that's what I ended up doing. That is how I found Roman and his "rtheaters.com". I found all of the positive reviews about Roman and his way of doing business comforting after my previous experience. His style was exactly like I had read it was in the reviews, helpfull and communicative.
The chairs arrived last week and after getting the three large cartons into our garage, I excitedly opened carton # 1 to get a look at our new seats (remember that we had been waiting a total of three months for seats if you count the previous failed order with 4seating.com). Much to my surprise the chairs were a dark brown, not the black that I had ordered. I immediately thought that I was mistaken about the color that I thought I had ordered and checked my invoice which confirmed my recollection of ordering black. My wife, always trying to prevent me from getting into an argument with others, volunteered that they were such a dark brown that they were, in fact, described as black. I checked the manufacturer's label on each carton and each one said, "Black" for the color. I felt terrible about receiving the wrong color chairs and the long wait to get chairs in the first place. I announced to the gathered family that there was "No Way" that we're sending them back! After looking and touching for a while, I decided to send an email to Roman to tell him about the color and determine if that shade of Brown is actually called "Black". Roman told me that the shipper had screwed up somehow and the chairs were Brown and not the Black that I had ordered. He assured me immediately and often that one way or another, it would be taken care of either by returning the chairs, or Roman getting us a credit from the shipper for the error. The short story is that he ended up getting us a decent sized credit for the error and we decided to take it and keep the Brown chairs. Roman mailed out a check to us that I received within three days which is incredibly fast when you consider it was over the Christmas Holiday.
The chairs are nice, but not as soft and plush as I had hoped for. I told Roman that my wife and son LOVE the chairs and that's probably the most important factor because I can't always trust my judgement because I can be incredibly picky about such things. The Bown color adds another color into the Theater room, but with the credit that Roman gave us, I can live with that. The Buttkicker didn't work correctly straight out of the carton. After plugging everything in they rumbled continuously. I connected with Marvin from the Guittamer(SP??)company and determined that we had a bad SEND unit for the wireless hookup. He UPS RED a new one out to me and we got that resolved yesterday. All throughout all of the process, Roman was there keeping tabs on progress, being helpfull and demonstrating how he has earned his reputation as someone that you can trust and has your well-being as his priority. Despite the problems that we had I wouldn't hesitate to buy from Roman and "rtheaters.com" again. Thank you Roman.

NYURDRMS 01-02-09, 05:03 PM I am ready to report on my dealings with Roman as well. I have to agree with Dave in the post above me, as I was completing my Theater room I needed to add the theater seats, and as I shopped around I had decided on the Berkalines. So I did some additional research on this forum and others and decided to give Roman a call. He was just as every one of the posts implies, incredibly knowledgable about his business. After explaining to him what I needed, he said he could set me up with some Berkelines, but mentioned the Private collection as well. I was very skeptical about these, as they appeared to be the first run on these chairs and weren't really an established name, however for what came with them I would have easily paid twice the amount to get similar Berkaline's, and I need 8 for my room. So I decided to take a gamble on them with the word of Roman as my guidance.
After placing the order with Roman, I began to have some buyers remorse, as although Roman has a number of positive posts on this board, that is all I could go by. Plus he sounds like on the phone he might be Eastern European, so I was thinking immediatly Russian Mob/Scam (no offense Roman, I watch too many movies :))So I really started getting a bit worried, as I was thinking, could all of these people be Roman's friends that have posted under another name on this board, and this could be a big scam (started to get a bit paranoid, as I already sent him a check for several thousand up front, with really no recourse for me). So I decided to do some further checking to ease my mind, and I got on AVS and searched again for anything I could find about Roman or his company, and from what I could find after wading through hundreds of posts, I didn't see a single negative post on here about him or his company. Now that is impressive, but still not enough, so I checked further and noticed that he has nothing but positive reviews on resellersratings.com, so I began to feel a little better until the chairs actually came in to the warehouse and I had to send him another check for the remainder of the balance, again without any recourse. But I did it, and I am thankful I did. When the chairs arrived this week, I can't tell you how releived I was. I am not usually somebody that will spend the time to write a review for somebody, but I have to say, that with Roman, I did save roughly 50% , maybe more, off what I would have bought the same recliners for through a retailer, and he was extremely helpful.
If you are having any doubts about dealing with Roman as I was, please feel free to PM me as I have never met the guy in person, but I can tell you he is legit and has a great product to sell. My wife and I purchased 8 of the Santa Fe Private Collections seats with Butkickers and I can tell you I am extremely happy.
One last comment, as my friends were helping me carry them up to the theater room from the garage (they are very heavy), one made the comment that the leather feels like "butter,", couldn't help but smile with that one.:)
Thanks Roman, I appreciate your patience in dealing with me, as I am sure I was one of your tougher customers calling everyday. I will post some pictures of the setup in a following post.

NYURDRMS 01-02-09, 05:18 PM Sounds like they don't have a clue. Please let us know how the troubleshooting goes. I've turned my Buttkickers off for now.
I have to disagree, I just called the Gueteheimer group (however you spell it) and spoke with Andrew as mine were also at a point that I really hated the buttkickers as they were very eratic and I was really regretting paying extra for them. However after speaking with Andrew he seemed to think that I had some interference with the wireless (which in my house wouldn't be a stretch, with two types of wireless phones, WIFI networking and a number of other electronic devices of some sort it makes sense.) He recommended trying to hard wire them and see if that helps, so I went to radio shack and purchased several RCA audio cables and split them (Andrew said I didn't need the expensive stuff), then ran the RCA from my sub output split with my sub and then daisy chained them all together. NOW, they all rumble together, and I can tell you it was a night and day difference. I can now see what everybody is raving about Buttkickers, they all seem to rumble together now.
So for anybody out there, having problems or are not happy with the buttkickers, go out and spend $15 on some RCA wires then hard wire them, then try it and see. I think the wireless is a great idea, but as the guy from Buttkicker above posted, I think that technology isn't quite there yet. How many of you run wireless suround sound speakers? I am guessing nobody since you lose quality of sound by doing so. I would imagine the same is true for these. Unless you live in a house isolated from any other kind of possible interference, which I would guess anybody on this forum probably wouldn't qualify, I would just wire them up. I am sure you will be happy with them.
streetdaddy 01-03-09, 12:30 AM Ny,
Of course that sounds great, but some people need the wireless application as their theaters are finished and don't want wires running across the room.

I agree with the last poster on this. Hard wiring these is not really an option for me. If their copout is to claim interference from wireless phones, WIFI networking, etc., that's lame. Those things are becoming nearly standard in homes. If "the technology isn't quite there yet", they should pull them off the market, and not charge extra for them.
Last point, I'm going to guess you don't lose "quality of sound" when you're only transmitting an LFE rumble to your seat. LOL

I really didn't think that hard wiring would work for me either, as I certainly didn't want any cables showing either, however, I was able to run the very thin RCA cable along the carpet edge to behind the first row of seats, then daisy chained them all up under the seats, so virtually no cable shows.
All I can say is when I was trying to to use them wireless, it was aweful, as you both described. Once going to the wired solution, they are awesome. (I can't explain the difference in words, you have to feel it) I have played the desert fight scene from transformers with that scorpian thing over and over, and my friends are blown away, literaly. :)
You are also right that I am guessing the wireless solution won't work for most people and probably shouldn't be marketed until the kinks are worked out, but on the other side, what are you going to do? Sometimes that happens with cutting edge equipment.
And your last point about losing "Quality of Sound" via wireless, I guess I spoke incorrectly, as I meant Quality of signal, even with LFE tranmissions, if you are getting interference, it makes sense that it will cause all kinds of havoc (probably worse with LFE signals since they are so profound), as I am sure you are dealing with now with your buttkickers.
Anyway, I am happy now with my setup, I wish you guys luck in getting yours setup.

bscoggins4 01-20-09, 10:00 PM Been meaning to write a review of the chairs since I got them two weeks ago but I have been having trouble staying out of them long enough to write this.
I bought four of the Private Collection Main Streets. I did have to wait a long time to get the chairs from when I placed the order but Roman kept me updated the whole time.
I had read some of the reviews mention that they had problems with the wireless Buttkickers and I did experience the same issue. I did not mess with it much (10-15 minutes) before I decided to hard-wire them. Once I hard-wired them I have had no issues with them.
Everyone that has seen/sat in them has had nothing but good things to say about them.
The chairs are very comfortable, the price was much better than anything I could get locally and Roman was a pleasure to deal with. If/when I (or any of my friends) need anything else HT related I will definitley point them Roman's direction.
Thanks
LarryDi 01-23-09, 05:26 PM Hey guys,
I just got my chairs today.
StreetDaddy (on anyone else with the Private Collection Santa Fe's),
I am debating whether to buy the Private Collection Santa Fe in brown as you have done. Judging by your pics, your chairs are darker than what is shown in Roman's site. Is this correct? (I hope so!).
My wife thinks the brown is too light in the website ad, and I really don't want black. I would be happy with the color in your pics (which look great, btw!).
Thanks.
Some of the pictures on the website show "Photoshopped" lighter color.
Here is the real chair (the picture was taken with a flash, so in reality the leather is slightly darker).

will1383 01-23-09, 08:19 PM Roman,
I never contacted you, but we got our blankets. thank you! I am hopeful the chairs will arrive when expected and that we don't have to wait extra time for them...
streetdaddy 01-25-09, 01:24 AM Larrydi,
I would say they are a touch darker than the photo Roman posted. I took mine without a flash as the ones i took with it looked orange.

Sweet! That pic put me over the edge......
Are these available in a (burgandy, claret, wine red) - ish color?
And - can the 3 seater configuration be expanded later to a middle "love seat" by adding a center section?
Dan,
Your chairs should be in the warehouse by 02/13/09, and will be shipped right away.
ppabst,
Currently we do not have anything but in BLACK or BROWN colors, but custom orders are welcome. You may end up waiting much longer for your seats, though.

Thanks for the reply, streetdaddy. As much as I like the Brown, I've been talked into getting the Black Santa Fe by my family.
