In market for 40" lcd. Here good/bad on new 120hz technology. Will get 1080P tech and curious if I am better off with new 120 or old 60 hz for gaming reasons. Will hook up hdmi. Looking at Toshiba, Sony but am not limited to this. Any help appreciated.

Samsung has really won me over from panasonic in the last couple years

If you want the best lcd at 40" out right now, check out the Samsung 40A650 or the 40A750.

Panasonic plasma... but if you must have an lcd, then Samsung!

As stated before, the Samsung a650 or a750 are the best you can get for gaming. the automotion plus makes most 30fps games look like 60fps. That right there makes it a MUST for gamers who like the "it's like I'm there" feel.

I suggest any LCD with a "game mode." That automotion or cinemotion stuff mentioned above adds MAJOR lag to your gaming! Don't believe me? Try to play some old Mario Bros on it. Good luck!

Sammy 4061F - and some places have it on clearance right now. (Budget conscience! :))
As an FYI - I have yet to see an argument that is valid for 120hz.

/honestly - if you are willing to spend 2k on a tv, go bigger.

Oh - a great buy - the Sony KDL40W3000 is on sale at CC for $1299.
That is a steal.

i have the LNT4042H. great tv and i got it for under $900. i would also go for a sammy. loving mine. thanks tax check, lol.

Sony's W3000 is a great line and has essentially 0ms lag when set to Game Mode

Sammy. They are great TVs and cost less than the Sony sets. The A650 and A750 are beautiful.

540 series Toshiba:

Toshiba 46XV540U Has all the features you want and is a 10 bit Sammy panel
Toshiba 42XV540U Has all the features you want and is a 10 bit LG panel

They are the Thin-Line bezel design, not Ultra thin. very nice looking to say the least.
The 42" would be my pick at only 40.4" width.

i'd only go for the toshiba's posted by red cell IF you could get them cheaper than a 4065F(10 bit panel), otherwise get the 4065F (samsung), you'll lose 2 inches, but you're only looking for a 40" anyway... and you'll have pretty superb picture quality.

unless you're dead set on 120hz.

I saw the 42XV540U and 46" at video only. They Are Stunning...
The salesman said he would let it go for around $1.299 42".
