Version: MVer: 05.00.01.07 Batch: DV980-07-0328

I've installed the beta firmware (http://www.oppodigital.com/dv980h/dv980h-firmware-07-0328.html) to my factory installed SAP and two very annoying problems have been solved.

1. After pressing STOP and restarting later (over a period of time) I no longer have to OPEN/CLOSE the tray to get it to resume play at the stop point.

2. Pausing with the new "User Selectable Pause Mode" the static picture looks ALOT less jaggy than before.

I did notice however, that when setting 'De-interlacing Mode' to 'Film' (instead of 'Auto') from the 'Video Setup Page' the movie looked bad with jagged edges in the images but the paused image was fine.

Mine still hangs for a bit on stop, but does re-start after maybe a 30 sec delay.

I've noticed some de-interlacing lag on scene changes, where it looks like the player is re-setting itself. This occurs only on some movies, (or it's more noticeable on some). I wondered if it might be the "auto" setting that caused this, I might try it on the "film" setting.

DVDTimes: Oppo 980H Review (http://www.dvdtimes.co.uk/content.php?contentid=67357)

Even when the DV-980H has not managed to auto-detect that it's playing Film content (which, thankfully, is rare), Oppo have come to the rescue again, as they have acted on my request and implemented a manual control (called "De-interlacing mode" in the video menu). This means that you can force the player into Film mode if the player hasn't detected that this is the correct one on its own. I've almost never had to use this feature, except when chapter-jumping to scrolling end credits, but it's here if you need it. (Remember that this Film Mode force is intended for PAL discs - it'll make NTSC discs, which are properly taken care of by the "Auto" setting already, look odd).
Best to leave it on "Auto"

Yep, I spoke to soon. Watching a movie last night and stopping it for 15-20 minutes then pressing play it never resumed play. Not even 30 seconds later. Had to OPEN/CLOSE the tray to get it to resume play at the stop point.

So, appears this has still not been fixed with this player in the latest firmware update.

After the player goes into standby mode, you have to press play twice for it to resume. It's the same whether the player was in pause or stop mode when it went to sleep. Pressing play twice always works for me, whether it's a DVD, CD, or SACD.

Doesn't matter how many times I press play when this occurs, it never does. Only OPEN/CLOSE tray works...
