Hey all, I just bought a Samsung PN58A650. My question is does anyone have experience with a satellite HD receiver with DVI and component? What would be the better choice DVI to HDMI or Component or does it make a difference at 1080i or 720p?

You should try both and see which you prefer. You will get all kinds of answers from "DVI is far superior" to "there is no difference." I am in the latter category, but you should use whichever looks better to you.

I just went thru this with my Samsung LCD because Time Warner does not support HDMI or DVI connections to their set-top boxes. I honestly cannot tell any difference in the PQ between HDMI vs. component cable connections. I was forced to go to component because of the buggy Navigator software from TWC doing strange things with the HDMI port.

It seems silly to have digital cable service and a digital HDTV, and then convert the signal to analog going out of the STB and then back to digital when it gets to the TV, but that's what TWC wants or they won't support you. This seems like a bunch of needless overhead to me, and must keep the processors very busy in both devices, but my TV seems to handle it well.

YMMV,
