Folks,

I have a HTPC (Bottom Feeder kind) and a Rear Projectin TV.

Now my dilemma is that mostly I use the HTPC to play music and to turn it on and start Media player and what not I need to turn the TV on for a few minutes.

I was told this is really bad for the lamp and I would like to get a case with a 7" screen so I dont need to turn the TV on to play music and such.

I dont need to see the screen unless I am right in front of it to turn everything on...

Now I heard that one problem with those screens is the dual display that never works with the right resolution for the little screen.

Has this been solved? Or is it still a problem. I am running a GeForce 5200.

I was wondering.. if dual monitors dont work properly, could I just install a PCI videocard and run 2 videocards? One for the TV , one for the mini LCD.

Thanks :)

Check this out > http://www.origenae.com/en/index.htm

I have heard nothing but good news about these cases.

Sure the cases are nice, but that has nothing to do with the dual display clone/extended desktop issue. That's still there.

Teac: To answer your question, you need a separate piece of software that runs (and displays) on your case LCD screen. This software would be running in "addition" to Media Center (assuming that's what you are using) and provides IP based control of it, to allow sending commands to it. We are working on developing exactly this kind of framework, but it's not ready for release yet. Will post more details when it's ready.

Seperate software to run the screen? That sounds like a major PITA ... I always thought they would be connected to the 2nd port on the video card...

What if I got a liliput 7" screen ... Does usually dualview work well enough for 2 screens with DIFFERENT resolutions or should I or better can I install a 2nd videocard to run the little screen at its own properties?

Cheers

It doesn't matter if you use a Lilliput or add a second video card, you'll have the same problem. It's a Windows issue.
