My D* DVR had me thinking MTV was getting with it.

Alas, false alarm.

Has MTV indicated any plans to actually air HD programming?

How is MTV dong HD? Stretchovision?

Are they starting to flag everything as HDTV, similar to TBS-HD and TNT-HD?

MTV does pillar bars. I have never seen anything tagged as HD on MTV, and quickly browsing through the next 24 hours I still don't see anything tagged as HD. If the show was indeed tagged as HD, it was just a mistake.

MTV still hasn't shown a single second of HD, along with VH1 and CMT. MTV Networks/Viacom/CBS should be ashamed of themselves. DirecTV picked up these channels on the first day of their HD expansion 7 months ago. I believe Fuel is the only other channel that hasn't shown any HD.

I haven't seen anything pegged with the HD tag on MTVHD on my HR20. I record "The Real World" and "The Hills" off of MTVHD and the show do have the pillar bars on the left and right sides.

The Real World is in upconverted 16:9 on Comcast On Demand (in the "HD" section). It may not be shot and/or produced in HD. The Hills is the same way. Comcast is also passing off SD programs as HD among their 500 HD "choices".

Cartoon and CBSCHD haven't either unless that's changed recenetly.

It was tagged as HD after it was recorded, in my List. I did a manual recording though instead of a series recording, because MTV has a habit of rerunning episodes and tagging them as first runs. So my HR20 and DTivo records a bunch of them that I've seen, even though I'm only recording first runs.

Hills is filmed isn't it? Wouldn't that be easier to convert to HD than the tape used in RW? But they're in a hurry to air those shows instead of taking time to convert.

Have they actually started airing programs on MTV again, or still only "programs"?

Yes, and apparently it's one of the top 20 or so cable channels in the ratings. They have a web site and everything.

MTV....What is that? I once remember a similar channel with that same name. Music Tele Vision. The astronaut on the moon holding the MTV flag...Ahhh the days. Why do they even call it MTV still. Music Tele Vision....where is the MUSIC???? What a great institution it ONCE was. A pioneer in cable channels. Now look at it. Once it corrupted teens and young adults with that "noise", our parents called it. Now it corrupts teens(forget the young adults) with how to be a sexy hottie and live with other sexy hotties and.......forget it.

VH1 also for that matter.
