Anyone else unhappy with the spawning changes to Rainbow Six Vegas 2 multiplayer??
I enjoyed the tactical system of cover and whatnot, but I can barely use that now since people spawn all the heck over and you seem to die within a 30 seconds. Were they trying to speed up the gameplay to compete with COD4??
If they want me to have that experience.. then job well done as I will be ejecting my R6 disc and inserting my COD4 one!!
I havn't had a chance to pick up RSV2 yet, what's different about respawns than the 1st?

Spawn camping was terrible before the patch. This alleviated it, somewhat.

A tactical game like this either needs no respawns or they need to have a long ass timer between your death and spawns.

As a fan of the first R6V1, there was a noticeable shift toward "run-and-gun" in the second version. The first game featured maps with several chokepoints with the idea that cover could be used. The map selection was also superior, as you were able to choose small maps, as well as good sniper maps.
While tactical-gamer fans were thrilled, deathmatching players demanded more "action" and less "camping." So when version 2 came out, the maps specifically created for the game (i.e. Murdertown, CQB Combat, Villa, etc.) all featured very open structures that encourage deathmatching. This is evidenced by the popularity of those maps, versus the ones with tactical emphasis. I have to give them credit for Import/Export and Vegas Junkyard, but some of the other maps are just junk and, the point above, nobody plays them, so what's the point?
While the gameplay mechanics are great - such as the new sprint and the new guns - the maps are decidedly poor, especially those who have grown up with Rainbow Six as a tactical shooter. I still like the game, but only for it's single player. I'll put in version 1 more often than not, if I want to play multiplayer, and many of my buddies think the same.

I agree with the above poster ^^^
I do like the sharper graphics and new guns though. The A.C.E.S. system seems to be an ok addition, but most important, you can actually see yourself leveling up as you progress. On the first one, you lost track on how many games you had played and it seemed forever for that red bar to max out onto the next rank.
I like the maps on #1 esp. after the Red and Black packs. I hope Ubisoft supports this game more than the first one so we get more DLCs, as in maps, gun and maybe ranks.
COD4 is superior in every way but Im a Rainbow Six since the beginning. I hate the new maps on COD4 which I think were poorly designed and should had been free.

COD4 is superior in every way? I must have missed the cover system in COD4. :D

Because the cover sytem in a game makes it automatically better than those without it. Lol.
COD4 is the most satisfying multiplayer experience made on a console to date.

The poster said that COD4 was superior in every way, but it doesn't have a cover system, so it's inferior in that way. I happen to prefer Rainbow Six myself, but I didn't say it was better.

A tactical shooter with respawns, lol. If you want realism with a game which this one seems to strive to be it should be played with 1 life.
