i know with Left, Right & Center speakers it is important to get speakers from the same speaker line, does the same go for Surrounds?

is it important to get surrounds from the same company, or is it not nearly as important as the front speakers.

right now i currently have front speakers from the speaker company on trial, and was curious if i could pick somethin up like the Athena ws-15 for my surrounds since they are a tad smaller and placement would be easier

Correct, it is not nearly as important as LCR matching. As long as your rears have bass extending down to your crossover point and they are tonally neutral(not excessively bright or any other characteristic) you will be good.
