Going to buy one or other soon...price difference I'm seeing is about $250...which is not a huge issue...just want to make sure the PZ is worth the 250 for me...

This will be my 2nd TV in my living room...have an older 57 inch Toshiba 83 series RPTV in my gameroom...but it still has a few years left in it...

From what i've read here, the PZ80 has better black levels, 1080p vs 720p...which might make some difference in my living room, where viewing distance can be as close as 4-5ft...and about 8-9 ft max...lighting can be controlled...

Prob going with the PZ unless someone alerts me to something I missed or tells me at 42 inches 1080p is a waste...i've seen varying opinions on the matter...

The PZ80 has a few more advantages over the px than just 1080p, and since you're going to be sitting as close a 4-5ft, I'd say the PZ80 is well worth the extra 250.

Go with the pz80. It supposedly has a slightly deeper black which is on par with the top of the line panasonics. And at 42" you can see the difference in 1080p, but you have to be within 3ft or so. Also, I may be wrong, but I remember reading an article explaining how 1080p handles SD better than 768p.

I looked at the x80 and z80-85 I ended up with the 85 because they didn't have the z80 in stock. I could definately notice the difference in pq @ 4' the z80-85 had a smoother picture than the x80.
