Here's a thread to look at. (http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=834185&highlight=show)

You can't beat flat black for performance, although it's not the most exciting color. Check out the many many threads and see what you like. My walls are "grey mist" except for my front wall, which is flat black. Don't forget the ceiling either.

Here is my .02

I am planning on using various shades of blue in my HT Very dark blue for the screen wall and ceiling and two tone on the remaining three walls with a lighter color than the ceiling and front wall (but still rather dark) on the bottom separated by a chair rail then a lighter blue above the chair rail. I will either be using satin or eggshell finish because I don't like the "feel" of a flat finish although it is the best for HT due to reflection issues. I have also seen others here use reds, tans, greens, grays, and browns with excellent results.

Obviously as stated above flat black is the best but how many of us truly want a all flat black room? Just stay away from very light or white colors and gloss or semi gloss finishes and you should have a great room.

RTROSE

I went with flat black for my ceiling, "plum brown" for the walls (looks black when lights are off) and "screen gray" just for the screen area on my front wall which is 120". All from Sherman Williams. For me it worked out perfectly because when a movie is playing all you see is the screen image with no reflection or glaring on the walls.

Whatever color looks good to you.

There's really no bad choice. I've seen excellent HT's in Blue, Red, Green, Brown, Gold, Purple, Black, Grey and many other color variations.

I would just advise painting the front wall and ceiling black. Everything else is builders choice.

One thing also to take into account is the finish or sheen of the paint. Good 'ol Flat is the best. Oh yeah and beware of "Flat Enamel" it is pretty dang shiny as I found out. :(
