so I just spent like an hour on google looking for something I swear exists but I cannot find it for the life of me.

I'm looking for what would be a "floating" armrest kind of thing with cupholders in it. the kind of thing I think I've seen would be sort of like a bean bag on the bottom so you can put it anywhere and then is flat, either wood or plastic or something, on top, preferably with cupholders. like I said, I swear I've seen something like this before.

thanks in advance! :)

I've been on the lookout for these myself. I seem to remember seeing one with the "beanbag" bottom also. I've searched for a bit and turned up nothing...let me know if you ever track down a solution!

Never saw cupholders like that but I remember years ago my grandparents had some ash trays like that.

Have you tried looking at automotive accessories sites? Maybe you'll find something that works for you there. My HT is really more of a living room set-up with a normal couch instead of theater chairs. No built-in cup holders.

But I do have cushy ottomans. So, what I did for cup holders was to buy some ordinary double cup holder/center console type storage accessories and place them on the ottoman in front of where my guests and I sit on the couch. Works fine in a dimly lit room. I bought them in a color that matches my ottomans. Maroon. When I'm finished with them I just put them away and out of sight.

I finally decided the arm of my chair wasn't the only place to secure a cup of soda and a bag of popcorn in a HT and placing them in cup holders within easy reach in front of me was fine, too. In fact, where an armrest cup holder will only hold a single cup and nothing else, the $10 or so devices I use hold a cup, the can of soda, a container of popcorn and candy. None of it sits in my lap. I just reach forward for it.

Anyway, that kind of site might also have the bean bag bottom style you're looking for.

I only know of this one that I was looking to purchase for my boat. It's probably not exactly what you're looking for, but worth a shot!

I know I've seen them before, I just don't know exactly where either. The closest I could find at the moment is this http://www.lovesac.com/sodasacs.asp

Maybe as I think about it later on it'll pop up in my head.

yeah, that's definitely the concept. I swear I remember seeing them in a more "armrest" kind of capacity but those look like they could be pretty easily adapted to do double duty.

thanks!
