View Full Version : Cinema Style Seating for the Depth Challenged

I am trying to choose theater seating for my small dedicated theater. The depth of the upper riser is only 48", although it is 14 feet wide. This would seem to limit me to traditional cinema style seating, as the recliners (when reclined) require 65-70 inches. If I used a recliner style like the berkline, and someone tried to raise the footrest, they would hit the seats in front of them. Doesn't seem like a good idea. I like the look of the cinema seating, but also want to maximize comfort and build quality.

There doesn't seem to be much in the way of info on this style of seat, but wondering if anyone has advice. I am considering the "Star Delight" from Seatsandchairs.com. The price is certainly right, but it's hard when you can't sit in one. Some of the Irwin seats look quite nice (particularly the VIP style), but I don't know it compares in price/quality. I would be willing to spend up to $800 or $900 per seat, but probably don't want to go above that. So that excludes a high end brand like Elite HTS. Any experience or advice?

I was depth challenged in my first dedicated HT. I bought used chairs that do the flipup thing which was the standard theater chair back in the late 80s. They were actually quite comfortable and were efficient for both width and depth. No reclining or rocking, but they work out well. I used a row of four of them.
