I have a Hitachi 51F59 and I have recently noticed that the sides are cut off. I did some research and found out that it is overscan. I also found out that I could adjust this using the service menu. I don't really know anything about calibration, so I was thinking about calling someone to do it for me. Does nayone know if hhgregg will come to my house and calibrate my TV?

You can't completely eliminate overscan with a CRT-based display, or at least with consumer CRT TVs. This is possible with professional CRT monitors, but the electronics necessary to achieve this make these displays very expensive.

However, it's possible that overscan might be reduced via calibration, but it's unlikely you'll get any guarantees, as every TV is different and a lot will depend on where things stand with your overscan currently.

When asking about hiring a calibrator, it helps to know where you are. Here's a directory where you can find calibrators who are located near you:

Significantly reducing the overscan on these will require that you essentially re-do the geometry and convergence from scratch. It is quite a job and if done carelessly can cause the convergence ICs to run hotter. I suggest only attempting it if you are very familiar with this Hitachi chassis and its convergence system.
