I noticed that I am not getting as many OTA digital channels thru the new pc (Lenovo) TV tuner I just purchased compared to the stand-alone ATSC tuner I am using with my Sony 57" HD tv.
I called Lenovo and they said its because the pc TV tuner is not designed to pick as many channels as a regular ATSC tuner made for a TV. Huh????
Isn't an ATSC tuner and ATSC tuner? Anyone have any ideas or suggestions?
THanks

they may be speaking of the sensitivity of the tuner. The more sensitive it is the weaker signals it can receive.
i only have experience with low and midrange ntsc tuners in a pc card. they all performed poorly compared to tuners in tv or vcr. use the highest gain antenna you can.

Also, you may want to ask this in the HTPC threads.

Digital tuners can be overloaded with two strong a signal and nothing will be received. Many users with powerfull antennas have had to use attenuators to reduce the digital signal strength. Check antennaweb.org for antennas appropriate for your location.
