Hi!
I'm pretty new to this so it might be a dumb question. I recently got a Sammy PN50A550 and wanted to calibrate it in blue only mode using SMPTE color bars and CNET settings. I don't have access to these and don't have cable currently (i.e. no access to late night test patterns). Any ideas on how I can get these without spending a ton on calibration disks like Avia?!
Thanks!

Spending a ton? Are you kidding?

Borrow a DVD player, cables, and either borrow or rent a calibration DVD.
Visit your local library. You can probably borrow/rent a cablibration DVD of some sort (Monster/DVE/Avia/Sound&Vision). And... perhaps a DVD player too. ;)

DVE is ~$14. It's a pretty modest investment.

Exactly.
Even the HD version is only $17-18.

$140!! You must mean a closeout of AVIA PRO which was originally $400. AVIA II goes for around $30 on Amazon - retail is $50. AVIA PRO is the only one to include the actual SMPTE DVD however.

For clarity, the SMPTE Color Bars pattern is NOT limited to Avia Pro. The SMPTE DVD in the Pro suite is a whole 'nuther animal.
