I need help here guys.

I called up the manufacturer all set to buy a pair of subs to put in my HT for around $2k. The guy I was talking to told me about their new product that they are just launching that sounds amazing, it's designed for HT (2.4m wide). The problem, it's about $4k.

My question is would I be better off buying the cheaper 2k pair and putting the remaining money into room treatments? Or get the monster sub that will probably destroy my foundations.

Cheers,

Simon

I vote for the 2K subs and the acoustic treatments which are the most important thing in your theater, soundwise.

That's sort of what i'm leaning towards. I'd just like the brag factor of the crazy sub ;)
I'd probably only use 10% of what it was capable of doing!

Screw the brag factor. Save the extra money and put it into something that will make money and help your retirement. 2K now could be 20K later.

Just my 2 cents.

Simon:

Have you visited the Subwoofer forum for research on these subs?

Those that are really into bass tend to hang out there...

I'm with the others...great bass can be found at a much cheaper price. Invest some in sub traps to tame the room. Or, as John (the voice of reason) stated invest in you and your families future ...by saving/investing the extra cash.

Ron

PS: One good thing about subs is (for me personally) I don't feel a real need to upgrade in that area. Find something that suits your room needs and be done with it.

It was just the inital impulse ;) Sleeping on it calmed me down.
