I have a 30 year old Wharfedale wooden floor-standing speakers. It has 12 inch woofer, 5 inch mid range (isolated), 1 inch dome tweeter and a crossover inside. These speakers are rated 55W + 55W - 8ohms. I had these hooked to an equally old Akai amp which has gone bad.
I am planning to buy a new amplifier. I have narrowed down to NAD C315BEE as I have read good reviews about it and it also fits my budget (I can strech a bit more though).
NAD 315 gives around 40 to 50 W at 8ohms. The reviewers have used smaller speakers and at times even book shelf ones. Will the NAD drive my speaker? I am not going to play it at full volume anyways. Any suggestions about any other amp would be also appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
