Finishing off my basement (Coleminer build thread) and have run into a problem with recessed lights.
Namely, there are HVAC feeds in 3 joist bays and then a cold air return in the next 2 joist bays that I'd use, leaving no room for a recessed light until about halfway into the room (unless they go in the 2nd bay away from the wall). I did fir down the ceiling already, but the recessed lights are just too tall and wide to fit in the joist bays.
Anyone else have an issue like this? How did you handle it? I suppose that I could have the HVAC run moved, but I'd prefer not to. What other lighting options should I consider if cans won't work?
Thanks!
