I recently purchased a Marantz 12s4 and so far everything has been fine, except for one thing. Occasionally when I start a movie the projector will act like it is receiving a signal, but no picture will display on the screen. When I unplug and plug in the HDMI cable the picture will appear. I have heard of handshake issues with hdmi cables and I was wondering if it was that, or if it is something with the projector.

I am using a 4 foot HDMI cable that has previously been attached to a sony tv for the last few months with no issue. The cd player is a toshiba HD-A2 that was also attached to the sony tv with no problems. Thank you!

It sounds like an HDMI issue, but I am surprised you are having an issue with a 4' cable. I also have a 12S4 and my signal exists my AVR on a 3 foot HDMI cable to a 4 x 2 HDMI switch. From the switch I have a 35 foot HDMI cable that goes to a HDMI wall plate. From the wall plate I have a 12 foot HDMI cable going to the projector. Even with all of that mine carries the signal fine.
